I have to agree with the pajer here. I think the real reason this movie is flopping so hard outside of America is that it comes off as extremely disingenuous to have a Superman that on paper tries to distance himself from representing America while still meddling in international affairs by imposing American values. And, I mean, I don't like Netanyahu either, and it would likely be for the better if he were taken out of the board, but there's something truly frightening about an American hero straight up murdering a world leader while telling you "No, no, it's okay. We aren't doing this in the name of America. We're doing it in the name of Humanity." The obvious implication being that the American values of the American heroes are the proper human values and those who disagree with them are therefore inhuman and can be murdered. It's fucked up.

Okay. You definitely live in a bubble. When America took down Sadam or Gadafi no one was relieved. It was acknowledged that bad actors (specially with Sadam, not so much with Gadafi) were taken out of the game, but also anyone with a brain knew it was going to open a new can of worms and that America going around interfering in the world like this was a problem in itself. The same would happen if they murdered Putin or Netanyahu. Why is it so fucking hard for Americans to stay in their lane?

Saddam? No, because he wasn't actually doing anything of note at the time and there was no reason to remove him and destabilise Iraq. Gaddafi? Hard to say, that was during an ongoing civil war and I don't think intervention there really helped anybody. Yugoslavia in '99 though? I'd argue that was the last time America actually acted to prevent harm in the world and certainly the rest of Europe was more than happy to see that happen.

There was nothing particularly propagandist in this movie that American allies wouldn't already agree with, with the notable exception of Israel, obviously. Maybe the governments of Russia and China wouldn't like the messages, but they already don't like the ideals Superman represents.
