Happened to Ken Masters as well. They tried it with Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne but I think editors argued them down to just be millionaires instead of billionaires.
Is it so hard for writers to grasp that money only affects things that can be bought or getting things other people are willing to sell? You don't have to ruin a big part of their character concept to try and attempt a deconstruction.

I might be wrong but i think he said in the interview he did recently that he was just kinda burnt on sonic and wanted to focus on something else for a while. Maybe he wont end up ever doing it but i think he intends to make more SU when he feels inspired.
