It's not reaching 400 domestic. FF is next week and tracking for nearly the same opening. That's where Supes audience is going.

In the end this will reach about 550-600M worldwide.

Zack Snyder made what is basically a Bollywood series and tossed in some biblical references and since the average Indian IQ hovers around 75, they thought it was brilliant.

You can just witness it on social media, for one. They're attracted to the stylized, slo-mo ubermensch mythology of it all. Which is fine, I liked the Snyder flicks too. But they're viscerally repulsed by the colorful cast of characters, and romance, in the new one. The pop trappings, the other DC heroes who they don't know or care about. They want strong, sinuous men doing epic battle, like these men India is a lion too sir.

India is not a monolith, you know. Just like here. There's a mass normie public, and also a large contingent of reactionary posters. People are not referring to 50 year old Indian dads taking their wife and kids, but the outspoken younger population online.

Its a flop. 500-600 million for your 2nd biggest hero is flop numbers. Plus Supergirl and Clayface are next and those both will flop harder at the box office. Gunn failed the DCU.

I'd agree if Thunderbolts and/or FF had those numbers, but for fucking Superman that's pretty bad. He is the most recognizable and iconic superhero, but he can't even get more than 600M+ domestic.

You should not. Unless you want to see him screaming when zapped with 45 trillion kilowatts from the sun, or when he's about to be spaghettified by a black hole. Superman is famously a stoic who maintains a stiff upper lip no matter what. So don't waste your time.

That's a bs metric, the most recognizable and iconic thing. I don't need to tell you his brands been tarnished over the years as a wimpy boy scout and the bitch antagonist to epic Batman. He doesn't actually have the cultural cache you imagine to anyone under like 55.

Come on man. Yeah recognizable, wow. Recognizable from kids birthday napkins or thier dad's telling him about him. Recognizable in an iconic historic way, sure. But not hot. Boomers grew up with Reeves on tv every day and his comics selling like hotcakes, then they shared '78 with elder gen x. Same with Super Friends. Millennials had a couple somewhat niche Bruce Timm series and the Snyder movies geared more toward adults. The current in demand demographic knows him as only an icon only a symbol, and a cheesy one at that. Dated, corny. I think that changes somewhat w this flick, but his "brand" currently is nowhere near the cultural juggernaut of the MCU. It's not even a contest.

I'm a huge fan and an currently looking at a shelf full of his books, couple action figures, I still have bogdavove tee shirt from 32 years ago I wear, my cats name is Clark, I can go on. Anecdotal obviously but I went to the theater, for only the second time in two years, to see Superman, but have no interest in FF. Two buddies and thier families same deal, saw Supes this past week but little interest in FF. I think there's a lot of people like that. Not saying how it will shake out, I guess the MCU fans are hyped for it. But I don't think they'll have the "I literally never go to theaters but will make an exception for this one" audience.

It will be interesting to see how FF performs. The MCU brand is still strong, but there's never been a frame of reference for a good Fantastic Four movie. Superman's a pop culture icon backed by the Christopher Reeve movies. The new Superman movie kinda plays out more like a Fantastic Four story than what the MCU film seems to be headed.

This is literally his most boring characterization though.

The best versions of Supes are the ones where he actually emotes LIKE A FUCKING HUMAN BEING, which is what he more or less is.
