THIS is what Genndy Tartakovsky has been wanting to make since 2009? The guy who gave us such amazing animations such as Samurai Jack, Dexters Lab, Primal, and the Hotel Transylvania movies. Apparently really wanted to make this all along as his big passion project. A cartoon about dogs fucking. This is going to not only kill the guys career from ever being allowed near an animation studio again, but the last time any studio ever makes a 2d animated movie of anything.

Gendy was molested as a child while Fritz the Cat was playing, and this is his way of coping.

Animation exists outside of America. This will not be the last 2d movie.

The last time a 2d animated movie came out was 2009, and that was Princess and the Frog. That was almost 20 years ago.

That's a fucking anime. I'm talking stuff produced in North America. The place where companies like Disney and Dreamworks once upon a time would make 2d animated projects, with the occasional outlier like Don Bluth.

Genndy already got another Adult Swim show lol
He’s such a name animator that gave them hits that they will keep giving him projects. And this already made its profit with Netflix buying it so they don’t care otherwise

I mean you got a point if you’re referring to 2D films based on original IPs, unless you don’t count public domain fairytales as original, otherwise the last mainstream 2D animated film that was an original IP was Home on the Range

IMO raunchy humor looks good when given an expressive, Ren & Stimpy-like artstyle, it worked for The Haunted World of El Superbeasto so it could work here as well.

Also R&S Adult Party Cartoon, for as heavily flawed as it was, had some fantastic animation, and I feel like the episodes could’ve been watchable have they not had any filler.

Yeah, it's not even getting a theatrical release, even Anime movies tend to get small releases here. It might kill any potential revival of 2D animation here, but it'll be fine elsewhere.

Kinda find if funny how people who prefer Genndy's Clone Wars over the CG Clone Wars kept saying that Dave Filoni was a furry pervert because he has a thing for wolves. Now Genndy's out there making Big Mouth for dog fuckers that's basically every stereotype of bad adult cartoons rolled into one.

Admittedly Filoni's wolf obsession is rather autistic, but then so would Dini's obsession with Zatanna and Miyazaki's obsession with old planes and flying.

It's an acquired taste to be sure. Thing was Ren and Stimpy has arguably been long overshadowed by stuff like Spongebob, Ed, Edd n Eddy and Rocko's Modern Life. The latter two might never have reached mainstream success like R+S briefly did, I think it's safe to say they have bigger followings and better legacies.

For me personally I don't remember Nick ever airing Ren and Stimpy when was little in the late 90's-early 2000's. The closest I ever got to seeing it as a kid was the Firedogs song bumper on Nicktoons. I think they might have aired it late at night, but it gave me the impression Nick didn't want younger kids to watch it.
