This is my first issue, but I think Destroyer Duck might just be the greatest comic ever written

I've been going through a lot of 60s era Marvel. Avengers especially. Just got done reading issue 58. I've read a good chunk of it before but it's always interesting to go back to the past with fresh eyes I think. See how different things were at the start and see how much stuff we take as granted for now back when it wasn't so much. Plus I always forget how quick Kirby left. Don Heck was alright but big John Buscema is always a treat.

>Moon Knight
I've tried Doug Moench, Warren Ellis, and Jed MacKay. None of them were really that good. Moench was arguably the best, while MacKay was the worst.

I'm reading through the entire Powerman Iron fist run. Finally finished Iron Fist last week, finished the first epic of Luke Cage and am into the second one this week. I gotta say, Iron Fist was a fucking chore, I think I am learning I don't like Claremont.
Also reading the first Conan omnibus, it's fucking excellent, Roy Thomas is really nailing the feeling of REH.
Also reading Iron Man from the beginning online. Holy fuck, old Iron Man is goofy as fuck. It almost doesn't even feel like Marvel.

my favorite thing about the really early sixties stuff is that shit hadn't really set yet, so you get really random villains and situations. I might have to check out the avengers at some point too, it's sorta crazy how early they did that, Tony is still in his Golden armor in the first issue right?

I like Colleen but yeah there's a reason someone thought to combine Danny and Luke's books. It's a solid good series once they do though.

If you ever get the chance when you're done you should check out the biography of it "Barbarian Life" the creation of the series is very interesting.

>It almost doesn't even feel like Marvel.
Old Marvel is kind of funny. I said it in my own post up above but a lot of what we took as granted is just very different.

The funny thing about Iron Fist is I like the plots, but the prose is... Not good. I can get into the rhythm of older books normally, but Iron Fist was just too fucking much. And it's all in second person! I'm enjoying Luke Cage though, it's a lot of fun, and, while it kind of sucks he doesn't really have a rogues gallery, the random knobs he fights and mysteries he """"solves""" sort of harken back to that older era of marvel. The story where he has to chase down Doctor Doom because the monarch of Latveria stiffed him 200 dollars was legitimately one of the better comic stories I've read in awhile. I'm excited for the eventual team up.

I just finished the first Moon Knight run and decided to take break when I read the first issue of the absolutely baffling second volume.
I have also been reading the original run of Jonah Hex comics and doing a re-read of Morrison's Doom Patrol.

I thought the Moench stuff was mostly decent. It really craps out after he left the book though.

Some stuff like Spider-man and the Fantastic Four you can sort of see the modern elements but Avengers a lot like X-men is all over the placer. Around the time Vision arrives things start feeling like they will later on but a lot of characters really were still finding their definition.
>Tony is still in his Golden armor in the first issue right?
For like the first three or four. He's changed by the time Cap shows up. Black Widow was still running around in this get up for a good while.

One thing you also tend to forget is just how many Anthology series marvel was running at the time. A lot of famous heroes didn't even have their own book technically and you'd be urged to check out Strange Tales or Tales of Suspend or something.

It was all the rage in the 60s. Personally it just reminds me of fussy teachers I once had.
