Nah, it all went downhill when DC decided to make Batman grim and gothic. COIE was just the result of 15 years of trying to make comics more serious and socially conscious and challenging the CCA.

The only value Crisis had was to clean up the universe. Beyond that, it's gibberish, overloaded with lame superheroes no one remembers anymore (including those created specifically for the event, like Doctor Light). When DC undoes that Crisis with subsequent Crises (as idiotic as that sounds), its value plummeted to zero. Reading it now is pure archaeology.

They haven't even cleaned up Teen Titans or LoSH, lol, their comics just continued as if Crisis never happened. Green Lanterns, too. And Swamp Thing. Batman was slightly retconned in Year One, but everything went back to his pre-Crisis status quo after that. Superman and Wonder Woman were the only major characters who underwent significant changes, along with Charlton Comics' characters like The Question and Blue Beetle.

Even New 52, with all its terrible inconsistencies, was more planned and coherent than Crisis on Infinite Earths. Everything started at #1 and had a unified timeline, there was no shit like "pocket universes," at least up until 2015.

And it arguably killed Superman's popularity long term.
