>better songs
>Holds up more than the original except for the cheap early 2000s animation and it's a quarter of a century old
>Unironically had a crush on melody when I first watched the movie when I was 5 years old

The songs feel richer than the first movie, not that the songs in the first one were shit, they're good but the sequel feels more culturally closer to us than the first.

Like all of the disneytoon movies (save for lion king 1 and a 1/2 which is pure kino), the film's a pretty mixed bag. Strong is a great actress and Melody is a decent character on paper but the flick is constantly phoning it in. It's retreading the exact same plot as it's predecessor and just feels like it shouldn't exist outside of a cash grab. I'll concede that some elements of it are good (the penguin and walrus side characters got a few laughs) but it feels empty and has a lot less to say (morally and narratively) than the first.
>better songs
This is just blatantly false by the way. Not that you're wrong for believing that but in terms of what the first movie's songs mean for the landscape of the genre AND how important they were in conveying crucial character elements and themes, it's objectively wrong.

On The Land And Sea kicked ass (except for the part where they ran out of words and just wend with "la da da da da da, la da da da da da, la da da da dee dee"). That stays in my phone's mp3 folder.
