as someone who've seen it, no, its not that bad.

it isn't lion king sure but a fun watch. you might use this as an excuse why disney stop doing 2D but honestly, its more because of financial reasons since 2D stopped being relevant, up until Cartoon Saloon and Anime movies did their job

Roseanne becoming a VA is like the ultimate condemnation of the celebrity VA trend that started in the 90s. She was a flash-in-the-pan in her own era and her show got carried by John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf. By 2004 her acting "career" was long over, and it's not like she could act to begin with. Her whole schtick was that her voice was annoying, so they cast her as a fucking voice actor? LMAO. Corporate trend-chasing at its finest.

That said, Randy Quaid was decent as the villain, and at least his song was kind of cool. There are glimpses of creativity on occassion, so at least a couple of people on the team must have been trying to inject some passion into this soulless, DOA shitfest, but outside of the animation quality itself, this movie is largely irredeemable for the simple fact that nobody wants an annoying cow voiced by an annoying cow as their protagonist. Especially not kids.

>It was a mediocre but middlingly entertaining film that underperformed at the absolute worst time in animation history. If traditional animation was going to survive, it needed to keep knocking it out of the park. CGI just made being lazy easier.

Chicken Little was successful, so it must've done something right

Because it was a CGI Disney movie. That's it. The simple fact is that when Disney showed CGI to test audiences, they got more excited than when they saw 2D animation, which is why we saw the shift in the industry. I think it's hard to explain to zoomers exactly how much of a novelty 3D CGI was, and a CGI Disney movie automatically made people associate it with Pixar, even if it wasn't.

A western where the three main characters are middle aged women is a hard sell for a kid's movie. I like Golden Girls, but that didn't happen until I was an adult. The movie is fine. I like the dynamic between the main trio. Nothing terrible, but I wouldn't call it a hidden gem.
