rewatching it recently I noticed it suffered a some small degree seasonal rot starting season 4
also Arnold went from a dreamer to preacher and Helga from a tomboy to a stalker with a victimhood complex

Thatโ€™s true.
But I feel like I could give almost that exact criticism to any show I liked that had at least 4 seasons.
Writing starts to go downhill and characters get flanderized.

I'm going to be honest. Hey Arnold is one of my all time favorite shows that Nick produced. I'll take the worst episodes, nay worst seasons of Hey Arnold over any current show. It was peak comfy, and it was down to earth and did not talk down to kids, nor to it's fans that grew up. It had so many heart felled episodes. I still remember the Christmas episode that aired every Holiday season.

The DVD box set is worth the purchase.

the animation is probably excusable. you'd either try to one up yourself on visual gags or just phone it in after working with the same cast after a while. espwcially when most of your competition is already dead or dying.

I'll do a couple of shows I've watched recently
Bee & Puppycat:
The voice direction is pretty bad, it's feels like every character talks like their in a different show sometimes

Kiff:
It's better than most, but there's still a lot of cringey dialog across the show. Not unwatchable of course but it gets grading.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off:
I fucking hate the intro because it just straight up plays like the original, nothing to really clue in to the fact somethings different. It also take a looong time to get through so we can get to the new stuff (which is debatable)

What really annoys me about the show is that they went out their way to make an episode about how the entire school would fall apart if Arnold wasn't there to play Jesus. It was like they were aware people were getting tired of it even back then and made that episode just to spite them.

I noticed this in the first episode of season 2 when his voice changed. He was trying to rally the kids, lots of "Come on you guys!", I couldn't stop thinking of the Clone High episode about littering with Joan right before Ponce dies. It was enough to stop me from watching the rest.

Very early Arnold and all the pre-HA stuff makes him seem autistic as fuck, he's always off in his own little world.
