Is there a good example of exceptional looking food in western comics? Just curious, ive noticed food usually doesnt look that great in the comics ive read and im wondering if anyone has any good recommendations. Like pic related the food just looks so flat and boring. I understand its food but it fails to trigger that tickling in my brain that makes me want food.

Even sequential art that is supposed to celebrate food tends to be MEH about it. I've seen some comic cook books that made some stuff look good and some nostalgia bait books, kinda autobiographical stuff, but a lot of that is not up most people speeds because it's young adult stuff or slice of life stuff that people tend to hate or term woke, where the food could look good in some panels but other than the cookbook I am thinking of (which names escapes me), most of these the focus was NOT on the food.

I recall food's largely connected with gross-out scenes in western comics and cartoons.
Ren&Stimpy, the extreme close-ups in the Spawn comics and that one comic about the sushi chef chopping up the other food gangs in his town come to mind. I think the recent Prophet also contained scenes of gross feeding.

Good, FOODIES have been nothing short of a plague to comics. I swear it feels like most writers now just want to watch x-men sitting around having snacks. I know you need framing points for your stories but whatever happened to training sessions.

Food is just not an interesting subject at all. The enjoyable part of food is eating it. Any time people talk about food it's as painfully boring as listening to people try to talk about music or going to the gym. You might as well randomly quote parts of a cookbook. The only series I like that's "about" food the food is by far the least interesting part.
