Why is all MCU Reed stretching powers a joke? We’ve seen 2 so far and both make his powers seem useless. Do these writers literally have no imagination?

Reed's power are inexplicably good, he can basically turn himself into anything and stretch way beyond what you'd consider reasonable.

you're thinking of Plastic Man. He can turn himself into anything. Reed can only stretch himself into shapes, he can't assume different anatomy.

Is that seriously the extent of his stretching? What a joke. Compare that to all the crazy shit he does in recent books. What's even the point if Richards can only stretch that far?

Plastic man can't either. He molds what he has into looking like it like a tranny. Stretchy people changing their shape isn't the same as shape shifting.

That is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how Plastic works. His powers go well beyond "molding what he has into looking like something else". He can fully transform his body into working machinery, producing light from lights, or smoke from engines, or functional rockets and cannons. In the Terrifics he forms working guns and gasmasks. He is an outright cartoon character that obeys no laws of physics, not just a guy who can stretch into funny shapes.

In this scene, I thought surviving this was going to make Reed realize he never truly stress tested how much he could stretch and survive, and he would do some very impressive things afterward.
I also thought Galactus was going to shoot him away like a rubber band.
The underwhelming display of Reed's powers was the lowlight of the movie for me. Thing going underused wasn't a big issue since we already have plenty of scenes of strong dudes punching or lifting shit. Johnny's flight scenes were good. Sue had a good display as well, but it's always irked me a bit that they power crept her so much to being basically the most powerful member of the group to compensate for just turning invisible not being that useful in a fight.

Plastic Man doesn't really have elastic powers, his power is physiology manipulation where he literally can control and transmute into any state and design of matter that creates and dissipates its own unique energy.

At this point even the F4 movie was advertising itself as "a live-action Incredibles movie," like how sad is that. Imagine Superman advertising itself as "Homelander but a good guy," or something.

It's time to accept the Incredibles are the main version now.

Seems a bit petty of Galactus to physically play with a mortal like a toy

When in conflict it seems his tactics are more "ignore lesser beings" "Blast vaguely in their direction with a generic energy blast"

Since the giant fuckhead has no size control powers of his own in this adaptation, reed should have been stretchy enough to wrap around his arms and neck to try and immobilize him, just like that one comic cover. He's barely even pulled on in this and nearly fucking dies. How is this dipshit supposed to do basic shit like save people from a burning building or trapped on some broken bridge or some other shit if he can't even stretch? Jesus, he'd fucking struggle to save a kitten from a tree with how stretchy he is.

Marvel Rivals Reed has an ability where he forms a human shield and blocks all damage.
The art is a reference to Raiden punching Armstrong in Metal Gear Rising.

The trick is to start from a vital spot and pull fast and hard like a berserk Savage Hulk. Pulling hands to feet should take a fantastic amount of distance to do damage.

Plastic Man is cheating because stretching is the side effect/low tier of his larger powerset. But I do hope Plas comes into the DCU for Terrifics. Maybe Marvel will hear fan feedback and do more with Reed later
