The first phase of my plan is to introduce an unnamed Spirit Of Vengeance who will appear in different runs that involve the supernatural, including ones that take place outside of 616, establishing a throughline of events and foreshadowing.

Next will be the release of a Paul solo-run, marketed in a way that will maximize hatereading.

The story will begin by shitting on Paul long and hard, his relationship with MJ is on all the rocks, his job is in peril, and he just ran into Peter, who looks like he's in absolutely terrible shape, and overall, the feeling is that there's something fundamentally wrong with the world, and Paul can't shake the feeling that it might be his fault, irrational a thought as it may be.

Then one day, as he's crossing the street, a car veers around the corner, speeding right towards him, and as Paul's ribs meet the headlights, time grinds to a halt.

And Mephisto emerges from a pentagram of fire, laughing in sadistic glee that he can screw over the Parkers again, however indirectly it may be.

Paul asks him what he means only for Mephisto to wipe his memories of what the demon had just said, resetting Paul into asking what Mephisto wants instead.

Mephisto offers to save his life, to make it so Paul managed to dodge his accident, in exchange for an unspecified favor that Mephisto would call upon at a later date.

"You still have so much more to offer the world, Mr. Rabin..."

Paul mulls it over, but before he can accept, the unidentified Spirit of Vengeance arrives, striking Mephisto and ripping Paul from the time stop, the Sprit tears a hole in reality and jumps through, dragging Paul along with him, and Issue #1 ends.

Issue #2 begins with Paul and the Spirit hurtling through the hole in reality, dropping down unceremoniously in... New York, but it's different.

Paul asks where exactly they are because he knows for sure that this isn't his New York, the Spirit replies that of course it's not his New York, and that if he ever wants to see that again, Paul should stick with the Spirit, and Paul has no choice but to acquiesce.

They wander around New York for a bit under the cover of darkness, running into demons sent by Mephisto that the Spirit dispatches with relative ease, Paul gets a moment when he smashes a piece of hollowblock on a demon sneaking up on the Spirit, and conversing about the whole thing with Mephisto and how Paul was stupid to almost accept, and as they walk, it slowly starts to dawn on Paul that they're not, in fact, in a different New York, it's 616 New York but several years in the past, during the events of Civil War, but the Spirit isn't here for that, he's here to show Paul something else.

They walk through the streets, passing signage and landmarks that grow more and more familiar to Paul, and he realizes that they're going in the direction of MJ's old apartment...

And when they arrive, Peter's there.

Peter and MJ are, or were, married.

"What the !$%#?"

Just get rid of him. No huge story. No violent death. He just leaves and we never talk about it again.

A real trooper.

>>149563780

I know that'd be preferable, but he's already there, you gotta use him.

///

Issue #3 starts with Paul and the Spirit sitting in a homeless encampment, huddle around a barrel fire, they're laying low after another incursion of demons to find them wracked New York.

Paul is still in denial about the whole thing, "They were never married!", "They dated and it didn't work out!", "She had KIDS with me, man.", and "What the hell happened?"

The Spirit simply says, "You'll know what happened in due time, but first, you need to understand."

He steps out into the street and joins the fight agains the demonic hordes, and when the last of them peters out, he opens another hole in reality, and both him and Paul hop through.

A short timeskip occurs, showing Paul's combat skills evolve alongside the Spirit, flashes of similarity appearing in their styles, his arsenal grows as well, gathering anti-demon weaponry from across the multiverse, and in their travels together, a consistent theme emerges, Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, are always, always, ALWAYS together, married, dating, best friends, whatever, what have you, they're made for eachother and anything else is an outlier to end all outliers, Paul included.

This sends a malaise over him, wondering why he had to be in the crossfire of the cosmic rift keeping his MJ and Peter apart.

And when the Spirit notices, he says that Paul is ready, and takes him back to New York in 2007 to witness "The day that ruined it all."

End Issue #3

I have a narratively satisfying solution that both gets rid of him AND doesn't do a stock turn him evil/kill him plot.

Deal with his universe's Mephisto to remove Wayep's damage to his universe in exchange for his marriage.

Just fucking kill him off. He was made as someone’s sufferfag masochist character to project their own cuck fantasies onto Peter. I don’t know why these kinds of fags always gravitate to Spider-Man? Do they think his perpetual underdog status quo shit means he’s a loser like them?

>Just fucking kill him off
Hot Take: Killing off shit characters usually isn't the best option because it's narratively unfulfilling, doesn't necessarily stick, and often ends up with characters that should care noticeably not doing so. It also contributes to the unfortunate trend in modern comics that life and death are way too fucking cheap.

If you're going to kill a character, their death should tell a story, not bury a shit one. You're better off fixing shit characters or else giving them something to do off screen so you never have to hear from them again.

In Paul's case specifically, you don't even fucking need to kill him off. He and MJ losing the kids is plenty of material to just have them break the fuck up if that's your goal.

Thinking like this is why Spider-Man's life is just a gigantic trail of bodies and clones.

You guys are not understanding. Paul is not the problem. Paul is just a byproduct. Killing of Paul, making him an abuser, turning him into a villain is not the answer.

The key thing is MJ. It has always been her. MJ left Peter for Paul. MJ stayed with Paul even after the illusion kids were gone. MJ told Peter to not call her when Peter felt abandoned by everybody. MJ is the main thing.

A satisfying conclusion of the Paul saga would be MJ coming to terms with what she did to Peter when he sacrificed so much for her. He became persona non grata to the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the civilians in his own life. And what did he get in return for all his trouble? MJ went with another guy. Unless MJ realises this and tries to atone for what she does, nothing satisfying is going to come out of this whole mess. And this is considering, Peter wants to get together with Mj which is its own mess. Cause if he does, I cannot see him nothing but a simp and a hapless dog. If you want to create proper drama, significant drama, have Peter be unsure to accept MJ back into her life considering how he felt abandoned by her, and MJ to see how her choices have alienated somebody who cared so deeply for her. Actual genuine stuff, folks.

And until this is done, it’s all just convenient. Nick Spencer’s run where Peter gets together with MJ is just as convenient. Even in that had a history of MJ leaving Peter, and it had Peter always wanting to get back together with MJ but MJ never showed any initiative at all regarding that. Peter had to do all the confessing, even though he was the one who never left.

The problem modern Spider-Man comics, and most superhero comics, suffer from is that even when they introduce a stupid drama, they never see it through. They never dive deep into it and either retcon it or say it is solved or whatever. The thing with Paul is a nuisance, but a better writer could have used to address deeper stuff, but they won’t cause comic book writers are either trash or no longer trying at all.

The recent thread suggesting that they do a retcon of Paul being the REAL original Hobgoblin and everyone else being his brainwashed dupes would be hilarious just for how it would get rid of him as a supporting character while also farming even more fan outrage.

Dude sounds like a total simp. Doesn't help that MJ has daddy issues and came from an abusive home. Those girls are almost never good for relationships.
