>be Disney (specifically WDAS)
>release one of the biggest hits since Moana and Frozen
>get a lot of well deserved praise from critics and fans
>wins loads of awards and recognition
>Encanto becomes almost the next Frozen in early 2022
>rumors of a series or even shorts/special come out, even the directors, voice actors, and even LMM want a series or sequel
>it seems like Disney wants to milk Encanto for better or worse
>fast-forward to 2025
>the "fanbase" is nearly dead
>people don't care about Encanto too much besides the whole "Disney's last good movie" and other praises that you've heard over and over again
>no series, no sequel announcement, no shorts, nothing
>the closest thing to a (canon) continuation of the story is with the ride coming to Animal Kingdom at Disneyworld and a comic book nobody besides the fans care about
>oh and did I forget to mention that that ride and Volume 2 of that comic book is only coming out in 2027?
>the last mention of a sequel was Stephanie Beatriz (VA for Mirabel), just saying the whole "I want one, idk anything besides that."

So was this one of Disney's hardest fumbles or what? Even if a sequel to Encanto comes out, will people even care that much or will it be like Moana 2 where it earns a billion dollars and nobody except for families even talk about the film at all?

>6 year gap between Frozen and Frozen 2
>7 year gap between Tangled and its animated series
>9 year gap between Zootopia and Zootopia 2 / Moana and Moana 2

I think studios just get a lot of demands when a franchise becomes popular so it leads to a lot of delays because the suits want to be even more involved in the process
>Invincible
>Into the Spiderverse
I think an Encanto series would still perform well on streaming, as opposed to a movie.

Encanto's success is grossly overstated. It was a mediocre success at best.

In terms of box office success, then yeah kind of, but it released at the end of near end of the pandemic and got shipped straight to Disney+ almost a month after its box office release.
If Disney did release Encanto today or even this year, then yeah it would defiantly make more or less $1 billion dollars.
