Could have used more action, though. The movie peaked with the black hole chase and lagged a bit in the middle.

Should have had another Silver Surfer fight before Johnny guilts her into redemption, or maybe have Galactus send his robots to destroy the teleporters.

Also I kinda' missed the quips.

Needed more Thing, and actual action scenes with someone like Terrax or other heralds

I know the MCU has improved a lot and all since the Infinity saga and beginning of phase 4, but Reed should have been cucked, if they want comic accuracy- they should acknowledge his cuck status. Then it can be truly accurate.

Honestly if they just had someone else playing Reed and Sue it would have probably had good legs and made 800

I liked it too, but I find it a bit frustrating how we're at a point where it is impossible to discuss an individual film without tying it around the discourse of the larger state of the MCU. It was similar to Thunderbolts, where discussion evolved from it's quality as a film to wheater or not it would save the franchise.

Likes- Costumes, Sue Casting, Galactus practical suit, effects of Galactus during first encounter, and the over- all heroes known for saving the day during nuclear family times asthetic.

Dislikes- The over-all nervousness of Mr.Fantastic, Reed's casting, Johnny's casting( not that he's terrible I just think there's better.), everything Surfer, Moleman portrayal, weak Galactus gets pushed, stretching Mr.Fantastic is his weakness, both after credits scenes, and everything Surfer again because that was really just not for me. I like Earth X, the character was well written there, this was just a swap to swap and I found it distracting.

Final thoughts: I did enjoy the movie. I was expecting HERBIE to get shoved down my throat, but it wasn't bad. I thought I'd hate the Human Torch, but I liked his wanting to prove himself. Wanted more Thing.

Imagine if they cast someone hot and who didn't have a plastic surgery botox face to play Sue and an actualhot dude chad femcels like to play Johnny- this shitshow easily could have broken a billion. Also Pedro Pascal is clearly a Hollywood psy op, if he was actually as popular as Hollywood media pretends he is, this wouldn't have flopped so hard financially.

Jeff the Landshark happened in comics, but I'm not on board. Not my power cosmic. Stretching Reed could've gone further, it just didn't look like his power was worth anything, he never showcased it except for one quick jog in the air.

Yeah kinda, but she was fine and I liked her delivery most the time. The effects with her powers were pretty nice looking too. They spent a lot of time on her and it showed. Not that I'm a mom that needs empowering, but I thought they did good on her. She even pushed around Galactus.

I can't believe how little Reed talked with Galactus, or how Galactus didn't use even a fraction of his powers

Pros:
I really liked Reed, Sue, and Johnny's characterizations. They're in line with their comic counterparts and liked the depth they had compared to previous film iterations.
The film emphazises the team as scientists/explorers before superheroes, which is the other crucial aspect of the book. I didn't mind the lack of action given I liked the more sci-fi focus of the film.
The film felt eartness in a way that the most irony-poisoned MCU films could not even attempt to. The setting helps a lot by basically presenting a what if where 60's optimism didn't die down, making an interesting world.
The family dynamics are well portrayed, and starting with Reed and Sue's parenting was a good choice to drive the point further. I also like how they didn't why away from the rougher edges of their marriage, making them feel more believable.
Cons:
Ben gets the shorts end of the stick, which was a bummer for me since he's my favorite FF member. I get he wouldn't be the focus for this particular story, but still, something more to do could've been nice.
The editing in the first half specially feels overtly chopped. It gets a better pace once the team meets Galactus, but the over reliance in montages just screams that they wanted to cram it down, and so feels rushed.
Galactus doesn't make a compelling villain in this. I don't care about powerscaling and don't mind the fact that he goes down, but my problem is mostly his inconsistant characterization and lack of screen time. He's just not well put together.

I found it overall decent, 6/10.
Shame that when they finally nail an adaptation they'll follow immediately with Iron Doom, but that's the problem of another film.

The CGI was really bad at points. Galactus' mouth used the same technology as the Annoying Orange and Franklin Richards was clearly already mutated with how fucked he looked

I’d say c tier at best. And even Thats generous. There hasn’t been an MCU flick above C tier since winter soldier.

Hell black panther 1 and doctor strange 1 are both better than anything that came after.

Sue is every bit as poorly cast as reed though. Johnny is the “least bad” of the casting.

I really enjoyed it. Felt like old school Marvel in a good way. Back to basics, simple story, good aesthetics, some good action sequences, etc...
