i own the collection and ive read the entire story about 5 times over the last 1.5 decades
its not an amazing comic but it certainly fun to read. the show is just terrible attempts of "LOOK, LOOK! WERE DOING THAT THING YOU UNDERSTAND FROM MODERIN TROPES HAHAHAHAAHH"

Garth Ennis is honestly not that good at story telling. Like, I love the Darkness, but even I can't ignore the flaws of the comic and what kind of shitshow it turned into

It had good parts but overall he could have made a comic book named The Monks where the 3 edgy characters are Anvil, Omnis and The Odor where he thinks he's being clever by making an edgelord version of Alvin and the Chipmunks
