They only had one at all sincere attempt and that one butchered Doom. This movie would be doing great if it had more scenes like the Silver Surfer chase and some more flair to the confrontation with Galactus instead of just having Sue grrlpower him. In short you're a retard for blaming the source material for bad adaptations

It had a cast people actually liked. The days of hiring uggos and coasting off the brand name are over. Invisible Hag and Pedo Fagscal can't carry anything. They're all bottom of the barrel choices. Add to that a kitschy design and a movie devoid of any kind of spectacle, and yeah, you have a bomb.

>The most boring of all Marvel Superhero series....fails

Color me shocked. Its a certain niche, the perfect white family being a hero family team lead by a super nerd with Mary sue science but that's all. The trolling comic relief is just a blank one note spidey ripoff, the housewife mom goals with no personality, and the rocky yet gruff monster man being cucked as a freak from said scientist who needs him as the teams bouncer.

You're right that the actors are ugly. That's a big one even people don't want to admit it. For any story for a visual medium you always want the main protagonists to have good looks. So that's major strike against Fantastic Four.

But another thing you said brand name and that's the other problem the Fantastic Four are not a powerful brand. It's always been considered boring. And lets be blunt the characters are fucking lame. The fire guy throw him in a fridge, invisible woman use heat detection and her power is useless, the Thing he's already miserable because he's not human anymore so make him kill himself, and Reed? Melt him in a volcano. Look totally exaggerating here but these characters have LAME powers. They're not cool. Having lame powers makes or breaks a super hero.

The most hilarious thing is that the Fantastic Four were essentially replaced by Disney's The Incredibles. The Incredibles are reshuffled but they basically do have the same powers as Fantastic Four while being an actual blood family. The Incredibles has the benefit of their two movies being more profitable than every single Fantastic Four movie put together. Even more when they release The Incredibles 3.

Maybe they should have used Galacta Daughter of Galactus but then I remembered how ugly the actresses Disney chooses are because The Malge Gaze. So no way that Galacta would be allowed to be attractive. If they cut off Galacta's breasts for Marvel Rivals she would only be made uglier in live action cinema. Americans are homosexuals. Remember Americans are HOMOS. And now you remember the live clip of Fagscal licking that dildo. Seriously Americans are proud to be gay so that explains all the ugly actresses and ugly female characters in cartoons.

i'm not sure why people compare the Incredibles to the F4 as some sort of proof of concept. they aren't that much alike beyond superficial similarities: 4 of them in a family-unit and similarish powers.

The Incredibles works because it's an actual normal family and not some weird foursome of the main guy, his wife, his brother-in-law, and best friend. Most importantly that family includes kids, in a kids movie, what a novel concept. Also The Incredibles are just normal people who happen to have powers, much of the story is them struggling to adapt to normal people issues like Bob getting laid off from his soulless insurance job, Elastigirl feeling overburdened at home with her absentee husband going through a midlife crisis, angsty teenage daughter, hyperactive son et. while the F4 are super genius celebrity scientists. Even if they had no powers they'd still be super important.

>Fantastic Four are not a powerful brand
The only powerful brand the MCU had until they got Spider-Man integrated was hulk and they didn’t even have him. The FF are absolutely a bigger property than the avengers were pre-MCU, to say nothing of the defenders or guardians.

This is full on PR cope like Gunn blaming anti-Americanism and Superman’s supposed global obscurity (complete BS) for underperforming.

Pascal killed all hype when he was announced. None of the other three are big enough names to draw anyone and the MCU itself is suffering from divisive casting and creative decisions for the last 5 years. You don’t have to like or agree with Le CHUDS to accept that they’ve stopped showing up.

Cast, particularly reed and sue, needed to be better looking, younger, and more faithful. Ironically, exactly what this loser>>149672644
claimed the FF are, a stereotypical white American family.

Instead we got two ugly bongs, a Hispanic reed and a Ben who doesn’t sound like a New York Jew.

The Bob Parr and Helen Truax were not normal people, they were government affiliated agents, their knowledge in superheroing actually dwarfs Reed and Sue's, and their intelligence exceeds the everyman even if it doesn't meet Mr. Fantastics. The couple only pretend to be normal due to law, had they their own say Bob would have them living as he did on Nomanisan: Luxurious and adventurous. Which is little different from the Baxter Building situation. Similarly Dash isn't that different from Johnny's impulsiveness being tolerated as a youthful family member.

The movie starts with them living as normal people after the intro of them not being Superheroes anymore. The entire arc of Bob getting fired from his job and struggling with a mid-life crisis due to not being in his prime anymore isn't some accident, you could replace him being a retired Supe with him being some former football player or something and it's the same beats.
>Bob would have them living in a mansion which is little different
But they don't live in a mansion in the movie. They live in a normal house. Most adults would rather they live in a mansion. The F4 straight up just live in a massive tech utopia building.
>Dash isn't that different from Johnny
Him being an actual 12 year old is, yes. The entire dynamic is different, not only for kid self-insert reasons but the entire dynamic is different between him and Helen/Bob because they're actually his parents. Not his older sister and brother-in-law. He's also allowed to be more juvenile than Johnny is without it being obnoxious because he's a literal kid. And this isn't even mentioning Violet.

I've gotten a lot more interested in sci-fi since Marvel Studios fell off. I've noticed there's very similar themes in movies like Blade Runner, Alien, and Matrix that all have the same source material, just like how Goku and Superman are based off Moses.
I really believe if Marvel dropped their obsession with the Multiverse and made it something more like out of a PKD novel, people will come back and forgive the wave of shit they've put out over the last 5 years

You know what? Suffer, you fags earned it all the way back in 2008.
This is the grave you chose when The Incredible Hulk flopped.
>le Norton is le difficult to work with
Be as it may he and the writers clearly cared about the character they're portraying and wanted to make the best Hulk movie they could, not processed slop. It even looked and felt like an actual film and probably the best MCU had to Hulk being portrayed as a complex character. Was it better than Ang Lee's film? I guess generally that's strictly down to the personal preferences.
Was it a good Hulk movie? Yeah, certainly.
But it was "too boring" for you cunts because it didn't have quips every five seconds and the CGI battle at the end was at least good instead of constant CGI vomit that doesn't look remotely entertaining AKA MCU afterwards.
So you paid with your wallets, delivering a message that you don't want people who genuinely had a vision and wanted to make a movie not a product. You wanted shit straight from the assholes of Feige and creative committee of retards who already ruined comics.
This is the future you chose, fuck you.

I can see where you coming from, but I still consider it a good Hulk movie.
The larger point is that it reinforces my problem with MCU as a whole: I don't feel like any of these guys they hire care about capeshit, just the paycheck and fame of working on an MCU project and that's where all the dumb shit like female Surfer comes from.
Disney guys see the characters as corny stupid crap they're "elevating". I guess that's true for all capeshit adaptations to a degree, but here it's very blatant. I think part of what makes Raimi's Spider-Man so good, even despite its differences from the source material which I feel are usually for the worst, is that Raimi likes Spider-Man. I don't feel that love anywhere near most MCU projects. Norton also seemed very passionate about Hulk and for all the horror stories of his micromanaging, the moment he went away, Hulk as an MCU character went into a slow decline.
So it's just sad when people who actually like the character they're working on fail while those who don't succeed and as you can see in the long term that eventually stops panning out.

>Massive Talent was literally a Nic Cage vehicle

>WW84 where he was the main villain flopped
>Gladiator 2 where he was a supporting character with Denzel and the Irish guy in the lead didn't make its money back
>this year his Freaky Tales flick flopped, Materialists barely made back its budget and he was still in it for a little time, and Eddington where he was the supporting antagonist also flopped

They could have cast Leonardo Dicaprio and the result would be the same. Facts is, that releasing it next to another huge superhero movie, late in the summer, at the point where the MCU’s reputation is at its lowest and basing it on characters that haven’t been top sellers for quite a while, won’t bring in the biggest money. They should be grateful it does better than their awful last cap movie at least.

Gladiator 2 also flopped because nobody asked for another Gladiator movie. And Ridley Scott is in his flop era. Napoleon did even worse than Gladiator 2.
Once the Mandalorian movie does a lot of money, you’ll pretend it’s just because he covers his face for the whole thing. And he will be in Doomsday, which is guaranteed a billion even if it’s gonna be the worst film in the planet

>That doesn't change the reality that they were one of the only publications keeping Marvel afloat for decades. They routinely outsold Avengers until Secret Wars. F4 was Marvel's second best selling brand after only Spiderman.
You're really overstating things. FF was one of Marvel's top book in the 1960s when Lee and Kirby were on it, but in 1970s Marvel Avengers became the more vital and important book where big things happened, and by the 80s and onwards since then, which team sold better tended to depend on which book had the more popular artist. The times after the 60s when FF sold best were when star artists were working on it, like John Byrne in the 80s, or Jim Lee in the 90s. But there's not really been any point after the 60s where you could make an argument about FF being one of the only books that was keeping Marvel in business.

In fairness, you can't really say there's any point in Marvel's history where just one specific property was the only thing keeping them alive. Even if you took away Spider-Man, or took away X-Men during it's 80s-90s peak, Marvel had enough other properties that sold well enough that they'd still be around. Even the "X-books were the only thing keeping Marvel in business during the bankruptcy years" argument isn't true, the Heroes Reborn/Return books were selling really well.

Part of it is that the idea of a success has been inflated to absurd degrees. The 2005 film made $333 million and even adjusted for inflation that's about $547 million. The new one, in one week, has made almost as much as the 2005 film's box office and will be a flop because success at this point means having to make a billion dollarydoos.

Dany was in secret wars other wise nothing.

Basically all of them haven’t had a career since that show outside of Pedro who is fucking dreadful in everything.

The Fantastic Four are scientists first, superheroes second. I do think the final confrontation needed some more action (Mainly more Surfer and Reed actually doing shit) but these aren't characters you just slam together and make explosion sounds. They really kept the characters scientific routes in tact and I personally loved that element of the film. The weakest part for me was Silver being under used, no Alicia, and Pascal is not a strong actor and the weakest part of the movie's cast. This was my first time ever seeing him in anything and he was just awful.

Saw this and Superman back to back, and just felt that Superman had more to offer. Both are about the same runtime, but Superman just had way more heart and fun action. After the movie was done, it was more interesting to talk about and even some of my normie friends went straight to buy Superman comics after seeing it.

F4 in other hand was just pretty mid. It's not a bad movie, it just didn't really excite. Didn't really make me more interested in F4 or even the future movies.

I haven't seen FF yet, but here is my main takeaway from what went wrong
>pre-MCU, Silver Surfer was in the upper echelon of popular Marvel characters. Gender swapping him was a HUGE mistake
>Ben Grimm is also one of Marvel's most recognizable characters. In the trailers, he talks like a normal guy. The trailers just make him look completely unimportant and boring
>ALL the tv spots were "Sue is pregnant", "Will the baby have superpowers?". No action.
>Johnny has a bad haircut and doesn't express any kind of personality in the advertising. Slapping blonde hair and blue contacts on the actor gives off the same uncanny "White Chicks" vibe that Jessica Alba had in the original
>Pedro Pascal is overexposed and feels like he was only cast because he's a meme actor right now
>Vanessa Kirby looks like she got some bad plastic surgery and doesn't give off that MILF vibe you want from Sue

Basically they MASSIVELY fucked up the casting. I imagine all the CG baby shit didn't help word of mouth either.

He was cast because the actually huwhite Oscar nominees they went for all passed, due to the script being shit and the character of Reed being demoted form leader to simp. So they got Fagscal who's a Disney whore and did the role for much less pay. All his movies flop, he's not a draw, he's an internet meme.

>extremely limited actor
>no presence (or aura as the muttzoomers call it)
>clearly a colossal fag, cannot play a masculine character to save his life
>refuses to shave his shitty pedo ratstache for any role and looks the exact same in everything
And that's not getting into his politics. 90% of actors are massive loony libs, normal people ignore that. Fagscal's problem is that he's literally incapable of doing his job. He cannot morph into any character, he literally shows up in the exact same look and plays within his limited range. Add to that him being spammed everywhere because he ticks off boxes, and obviously people will start resenting him.

Look at literally any other actor and you'll see them morphing into what the script demands. Leo in Revenant wasn't the same as Leo in, dunno, Wolf Of Wall Street. Brad Pitt in Interview didn't look the same as Pitt in Legends of the Fall. Oscar Isaac morphs into a new ethnicity with every role. And so on and so forth. Meanwhile Fagscal is a gay faggot and is ashamed of his melted wax skin now that he's older, so he refuses to shave his shitty "beard" and plasters his face everywhere.

Cumberbatch is a curly haired ginger and he wore a wig and a painted beard. He's younger than Fagscal and in his debut as Strange had clearly white temples in his wig. Fagscal is 50 and didn't even want to dye his temples grey, there's just some stray hairs in them, not actual streaks. The "man" is a joke. Literally all you need to do is go watch Triple Frontier. It's a movie with Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, the guy from Tron Legacy and Fagscal. The man has such zero presence he not only gets outacred by Affleck or Isaac, the literal "Tron Guy" mogs him. Fagscal is a literal nothing and is a detriment to anything he appears in.
>Joaquin goes to wave
>Fagscal goes "nooooo Joaquin, it'll look like you're doing a heckin Nat-zee salute"
This is the type of faggot people defend. Fucker, who are you to even touch Phoenix?

I actually thought Pedro did have some great chemistry with the scene with Mole Man, ironically. Maybe that's because it was where Reed was allowed to be pissed off and "break character" so to speak, where he stopped being all-knowing and all-patient, and Paul played his part to an absolute tee, he seemed exactly like the sort of Small Time Guy who knows exactly what to say to get under someone's skin, an absolute Troll, it was great. It kind of had me wishing we had gotten a Mole Man plot (Although I do think the space scenes were great and Galactus did a really good job, it's just they didn't ever get to play off Reed).
