Well for one, I find Zach's humor much funnier. Not that I dislike Max's, mind you. I really do feel for him. I respect his craft and I wish he saw more success from it.

I think the issue is that Zach had a solid group of friends who won't ever give a fuck about any possible slander thrown at him, plus various connections he made while being unapologetic about the things he's said, while Max, willingly or not, ended up near isolated with only his content to really speak for him, and more often than not said content is a window to the sorry state his situation has left him in.

In short? Power of fucking friendship, which feels awful to say because I'm a loner myself so if I were to find myself in such a situation I would no doubt be a Max. Maybe in the future he will get his break. I mean fucking Flashgitz managed modest success, so it's not all hopeless.

Max almost got into the industry, it's just that he's really bad at compromising his creative vision or working in a group environment. When he's by himself, he puts out fantastic work, but if he ever became a showrunner he wouldn't last long. Showrunning is an extremely taxing position because you have to play a balancing act of not pushing out your own stupid ideas, accepting ideas (good and bad) from your co-workers and bosses, all while doing a shit ton of work, not getting paid enough for said work, and losing sleep.

Some people thrive as showrunners because they can be professional and swallow their pride or admit that they don't know everything. Max is not one of those people, even if he does know an awful lot.

I think the issue was in person, Zach wasn't playing a character, he was just himself, and he seems to be a nice chill dude. Max thought it'd be hilarious if he "pretended" to be an asshole in person, as an extension of his online persona. To the surprise of no one people just assumed he was an asshole all the time. Based on his in-person appearances, there was no distinction between his Internet persona, and his in-person persona. That's just my theory though. In addition, I think it took him too long to grow out of his rebellious punk phase. Maybe he couldn't handle the more rigid structure of a professional working environment? I wonder if he was hard to work with because he thought [thing] should be done a his way, but industry veterans who know better insisted [thing] should be their way. Or maybe he thought the entry level positions were beneath him?

I'm making a ton of assumptions obviously. I just find it hard to believe that he was blacklisted for some racey jokes he made in the past.

Zach is a funny guy who seems friendly and is involved in the greater animation community as a voice actor, artist, and friend to many involved. His edginess gets a pass because he seems to be a nice enough dude to where it just comes off as goofy and stupid.

All Max does is complain. Everything he puts out is in one way or another just him bitching about something. His social media posts? Bitching. Brain Dump? Bitching. Engage with his content long enough and you see a pattern, even if it isn't obvious at first. He seems completely miserable to be around because while he can be funny for sure , he rarely does anything that isn't complaining. What does he even fucking like? You definitely know what he DOESN'T like because it's all he talks about. Because of this, his past of being an edgelord seems much more genuine and off-putting than Zach's because he comes off as a bitter man child even now.

He's not, he's just generally hard to like on a personal level. From what I remember he's very negative with other people and expects everyone to just be cool with that as his baseline. The problem is that he often takes the woe is me self pity route through his art where he's actually a sensitive artist and the world is cruel and unfair. He expresses this by bringing on a pewdiepie character, ignoring all the criticism about him, and then dismissing all possible criticism by leaving it at "they're just mad because you're famous". What's the point of associating with people like this? If you don't agree with their narratives, they see it as some fault in you than some easy thing they got wrong and can look up.
