Capeshit writers are incredibly petty, this is long-established.
Usually they are taking shots at other comicbook characters they think are 'lame' or other writers they are currently having a bitchfight with behind the scenes.

Loeb is openly racist.
Like, even ignoring past general animu/mango seethe-dumps like this page, or his totally understandable hate-boner for Cass Cain, he was running around the Daredevil set saying nobody gave a shit about Asians that weren't hot women, killing plotlines for Nobu and Gao.

The Return to Angel Island arc of Archie Sonic, which was Karl Bollers getting so fed up with Ken Penders and his echidna autism cutting into everybody else's storylines and undoing any actually-interesting developments that his last arc before leaving the book was about Eggman nuking Ken's precious Echidnopolis and reducing the residents to slaves.

And of course, Ken would pretend that never happened and acted like only his vision was the one true canon, but he wasn't much longer for the book by then, either.

This is a pretty common opinion from a lot of star creators it feels like. The 70's was sort of the start of the need to modernize Superman and tweaking the formula. Morrison generally steers to Silver Age, Millar has said the 70's start to feel less fun when reading, and there's probably more I can't remember atm.

Millar grew up with the 70s stuff; the opinion he's talking about is from watching his kids read Superman starting from the Silver Age stuff then going to the 70s stuff

I think a lot of that is just rationalizing "the era when I got into comics was the good era." I can appreciate that a lot of late 90s and early 2000s stuff hasn't aged well, but it's still "my" era and I still think of it as the "best" era. That's just how our brains work.

Millar loved the 70s Superman comics, because he grew up reading them. And honestly a lot of the Bates and Maggin stuff is pretty good.

But that part >>149690026 mentions, is what Millar observed when his kids read 60s and 70s Superman comics. For some reason his kids enjoyed the 60s stuff but the 70s stuff not as much. Remember, the period Millar would be nostalgic for would be 70s Superman, so it isn't a case of his kids having similar tastes as him

There's this weird impression I get that the crystalized 'perfect' version of Superman in the cultural consciousness is from the 50's or something and everything afterwards is somehow worse and Superman was diminished somehow, it's really weird how prevalent this sort of sentiment is, especially since I thought there was no better time for Superman than the 80's and 90's

>he was running around the Daredevil set saying nobody gave a shit about Asians that weren't hot women, killing plotlines for Nobu and Gao.
Wasn't the story that one of the actors playing a Yakuza guy was angling for a bigger role and Loeb just told him to his face that he wasn't going to get a bigger role because the character just wasn't that important and nobody cared about him? But Loeb's just an old guy who was dumb enough to word his response as "nobody cares about the Asian characters" and get himself cancelled. He wasn't really wrong in telling an actor playing a minor bad guy that he wasn't going to get a bigger role, just in how he got his point across.

What should have been the real story there was how the guy had a recurring role on a big popular Netflix show but was barely making any money from it at all, after his travel, accommodation and food costs, but that story got buried under all the outrage at Loeb.

Loeb and Jim Lee both probably just see Cassandra Cain as one of many irrelevant, unnecessary legacy characters they're just not interested in using in their Batman stories, but her insane waifufags have convinced themselves that Loeb and Lee hate her specifically, and the only reason anyone could hate her is racism.

Years before this, Kirkman was going to bring back the original version of Supreme, but only a prelude issue got published IIRC. The thing to remember is that Moore turned Supreme into an off-brand Silver Age Superman so he could play with an off-brand version of a character he loves without having to actually go back to DC. But anyone else in the industry who wants to write Superman would just go to DC and write a Superman book, which means anyone who actually WANTS to write a Supreme comic is likely going to have more interest in trying to do something with the original character concept instead of just doing off-brand 60s Superman like Moore did.

This just stands out so vividly because normally if Alan Moore completely turns a book on it's head and reinvents a character, it ends up being permanent because it's so acclaimed and beloved.

Anon, stop. Huntress just happened to be a character one or both of them liked and wanted to work into their story, that's all. They're not evil racist bigots just because they happened to use one tertiary character they liked, and one of the many other tertiary characters they didn't use happened to be Asian. The people making the comics can and do push their favorites.

What part of "many other tertiary characters" did you not get? They weren't obliged to use all of them, and accusing them of being racists for not using one specific tertiary character is just retarded. You're inventing a narrative in your head that these guys are evil racists just because they don't care about your waifu and left her out of their Batman comics, along with various other irrelevant tertiary characters they also didn't use.
