It's not kids who are scared of this, it's creepy adults who spend way too much time thinking about kids and want to lock them in social Faraday cages until they turn 18, then release them into the world like the human equivalent of a Chihuahua, constantly shaking and in a panic, ten seconds from crashing out over any little thing.

>Although Q5--a consulting company made up of Ph.D.s in psychology as well as marketing, advertising and research professionals--has done some work with prime-time television, its extensive involvement with ABC’s children’s shows is unusual for television.

>ABC and Q5 believe that the new slant will make the show more accessible to children, especially to little girls who might find the new Janine more appealing. Q5’s work with writers included a separate seminar on the little-girl audience. “The fact that she is now warmer I think is fine,” Trias said.

Nothing like hiring a bunch of academics to suck the soul out of something in an attempt to appeal to an audience not interested in the first place.

What's that note about 'slutty'? I can't make out the scribble at the start. I don't remember any incarnation of Janine being slutty.

This marks the only time I know of that a character's redesign was explained in the narrative of the show.

I like how their evidence for their reasoning was nothing. Based on absolutely nothing. They just said a bunch of crap and insisted they were right.

There is no one more controlled and dependant upon the system than intellectuals, while hypocritically insisting upon their distinction from it. You’d have to be stupid to not view the modern intellectual with great skepticism and scorn.

Whether something is right, wrong, or even with merit isn’t the object of intellectualism: it’s to make whatever pill your given easier to swallow because “Experts agree: it tastes good! (They’ve never tried it)”

>it's creepy adults who spend way too much time thinking about kids
Negative. Its creepy adults spend too much time thinking about themselves and their feelings who only care about their internal experience. The moms who caught Janine out of the corner of their eyes while trying to ignore their kids with the electric babysitter were annoyed with it. It hurt their feelings. That's all that matters to them. "Think of the children" is just rhetoric to get what they want.

Q5 literally did base their findings on nothing, though. Things that are still stuck in the industry today like "children want to see a child their age as the hero" has their basis from them, but is based on no actual data or research what-so-ever, according to people working on the show The Real Ghostbusters. Instead Q5 were extremely talented at telling an executive what they wanted to hear. They were the equivalent of ChatGPT more than academics.

Only reason anyone really cared about Janine was they had a scret crush on her and they removed most of that in the redesign.
