Ben Bates is based. It's not my favourite Sally redesign, but it works for what it's trying to do. She looks a little more like Ricky while keeping her pompadour and overall colour palette. I wish the fur was more of a ruby red though. There's a neat bit of contrast between the warmer earthy tones of her fur and the colder tone of her outfit, but the effect is more diluted here.

Ian's take on Sally before the reboot was actually pretty good. He wasn't perfect (off the top of my head her back and forth with Monkey Khan in the Iron Dominion was a predictable drag even if it fit the story), but he did a lot to reorient her character after years of flip-flopping under Penders and Bollers. She had a lot of fun moments and sold me on the character even before I had seen SATAM proper.

The energy blades from the Reboot aren't a bad idea on paper, but they're a poor stand-in for the digital swiss-army knife that Nicole originally served as. Giving the rings a few other functions in that regard would mitigate the issue. She's definitely not a powerhouse a la Sonic or Bunnie, but some limited melee capabilities wouldn't hurt.

it was around the time Geoffrey St. John first appeared and there was a “love triangle” arc between him, Sally, and Sonic. that’s when the comic first started upping the ante, becoming more dramatic, and featuring a lot more smooching than usual.
it was somewhat cool because the plot started getting more serious (beforehand the comic was very comedic, but by this point it wasn’t) and as they approached issue 100 the world building was advancing really quickly, where they went into more detail about Robotnik conquering Mobius and how he tricked and betrayed the king. and also how Robotnik was part of a race of humans that banished him to the animals so he rose to power as an act of revenge.
