There needs to be more "men's adventure" stories in comics (ala old paperback novels and that sort of thing).
Let's list as much as possible in this thread.

Mike Grell is great for this sort of thing. Jon Sable, Freelance might be THE ultimate example of this. But his Green Arrow, Warlord, and Starslayer runs are other excellent examples.

Bruce Jones built his career on these types of stories. Almost anything he did in the 70s or 80s would qualify, including Ka-Zar the Savage, Rip in Time (with Richard Corbin on art), Alien Worlds, and especially pic related.
