Sonic is a 90s kids domain, he's been a joke ever since. This is because of Japanese influence making it autistic with things like space salamanders being the prototype for Vegeta. In any case, 00s Sonic fans don't get the brand because they like a weird autistic imitation of what it was when it was actually respected and popular, not a niche b-tier gaming icon who's mostly made fun of.

Certain aspects work, it's why you see cute girl characters and Shadow show up in other shit, but as a whole, not really.

I haven't seen Sonic merch at regular stores (not toy or collector/game stors) in AMERICA since the fucking 90s, and I do now. During the Sonic Adventure - Sonic X - everything else, he was a lolcow and very irrelevant.

Sonic was meant to deviate from every other Mario clone that had some damsel in distress as the endgame.

I just like the art style and music. It has a real atmosphere that was trully unmatched. I am 24 and I remember a youth club had a genesis with some somic games and despite playing playstation at the time I found it so engrossing. It's a shame a lot of that has been lost now.

Reminder that despite being multiplat, Sonic Frontiers sold half as much as Kirby and The Forgotten Land.

Everything outsells Sonic games. Crash 4 flopped, killing Crash again yet still outsold Frontiers. It's just that Sonic and his cast are such marketable mascots that sell a lot of other merch. He really is just Hello Kitty for boys in Japan with the games usually selling under 50k in their lifetime there after Heroes.
