You keep ignoring the broader point in favor of litigating whether Dorothy "really" groomed Joyce or not.

Whether Dorothy actually did or not is irrelevant; this isn't an IRL court case, this is a soap opera daily webcomic, a fictional narrative. And the impression given to the reader is that Dorothy's relationship with Joyce is creepy, manipulative, and symptomatic of Dorothy's more general issues vis-a-vis being controlling and not taking "no" for an answer. That impression is the problem.

The real question is whether that impression is deliberate on the writer's part and will be followed through on in some way. Personally I think it probably will, but probably in a somewhat hackneyed way that isn't fully satisfying and brings in some weird out-of-context problem, since that seems to be Willis's standard arc structure.
