Does Dietch get way too much hate?
Hell yeah. His weird Soviet T&Js are super unique.
But dont act like the actual animation is anything at all compared to the Hanna-BarabEra
His budget was like 40$ and a team of Czechs who didnt speak English.

It was better than pretty much everything that came afterwards (Chuck Jones' T&J sucks, bite me) but it still doesn't hold a candle to the original Hanna-Barbera run.

You mispelled Tweety Bird >>150267914 >the one series where Jerry was always the good party and never got hurt
I'm not talking about Tom and Jerry Tales either. At least that had slapstick

tom could easily not be a douchebag to the mouse and we could have catxrodent sex scenes but he has an abusive owner who beats him for sitting around when there's a mouse in the house. >>150272331 >why is my cat so shitty >beats cat >cat is more shitty
Tom's owner is absolutely the fucking worst and tweety bird skits most the time keeps to theirself and acts in defense

Mammy Two-Shoes will always be the GOAT owner. But there was another couple who were even worse than the fat guy. That fat guy just wanted to chill out. Grilling, fishing, I think he was hunting elephants. He was based v

They're certainly a interesting form of "ugly". But it makes it stand out, and be an odd example of introducing foreign animation that's also a communist nation for the period.
That's oddly reasonable and progressive even for the 60s in the heat of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

i always thought it was odd they sent tom and jerry out to eastern europe to be animated when rocky and bullwinkle proved mexico was just fine

Deitch. Definitely Deitch. Most people at least appreciated the visuals of Chuck Jones's run, even if it felt nothing like Tom and Jerry proper https://youtu.be/C7xbv-0NGwc

Which is a shame, because Deitch produced some surrealist masterpieces.
I can understand why Chuck Jones's run was criticized; he basically just transplanted the formula from his Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons. Those were a lot more in-your-face slapstick and didn't allow for the character depth Tom and Jerry had.

There needs to be a give and take when it comes to the slapstick. Also both Tom and Jerry need to instigate once in a while. The older shorts understood this. Even Dietch understood this. One of the most famous shorts is Tom trying to court Toots and Jerry doing his best to cockblock Tom. But it seems they keep trying to make Jerry the innocent party. The worst example is the Tom and Jerry Comedy Show (1975). No slapstick plus Tom and Jerry are friends rather than rivals.

This.
What I hate the most about the chuck jones episodes was that there wasn't a plot in most of them. It would just be Tom and Jerry running around into a play pen so they could beat each other up. Even the classics had a plot. It wasn't just running around.

He doesn't. It's just the usual small but noisy faggot group that screams and cries because "muh animal abuse" on a slapstick comedy cartoon.

They just didn't like how different it was stylistically. Chuck Jones's T&J shorts were also a departure, but most American audiences were at least familiar with his Wile E. Coyote cartoons. Deitch, on the other hand, wasn't as mainstream of a filmmaker.

it's a cartoon character they don't have any gender because it's not a real person. You're in the best timeline and fixating on the worst aspects of it.
