I'd say military focused, they were made to fight aliens and non-supernatural stuff mostly but they have the facilities, staff and equipment to deal with ghosts and demons.

I'm kind of happy and kind of sad we never got more Global Frequency. It's a series that is perfectly suited to Ellis's strength as a writer; every issue there is a single, strong sci-fi idea. The characters are pretty secondary, it's essentially a series of one shots with a dope or weird idea. I feel like we need more shit like this.

On the other hand, Ellis has some advanced form of ADD that makes him ruin anything he writes for too long, so it's probably good we only got the twelve issues.

These issues felt like a smaller-scale, less edgy version of W0rldtr33. Which is kind of annoying to me, since that's also written by Tynion so it's like he's just rehashing his own ideas. I get that with the themes of media control which are so central to DoT it would be inevitable that they'd have to deal with the internet at some point, but it still felt like a rehash of the same theme without adding anything meaningful to either the "viral meme has real-world consequences" concept or the overarching story of DoT. In the end it's just a character backstory flashback so it's not a big deal, but it's still my least favorite part of the comic so far.

I read it after seeing the thread, and I'm conflicted. I've never liked anything Tynion has written previously, but the series feels like it really wants to be a 20 episode mid 90s spooky mystery series by splitting half of its issues on one off events and trying to slap in a "myth arc" that hasn't meaningfully advanced since ||Hawk tried to get Cole to defect||. The way the conspiracies are presented in the case files and later issues feels like the writer is dismissing anyone dumb enough to believe them (in a reversal of the typical conspiracy nut knowing the "real story") and the 4chan arc was adorable in how out of touch it is. But thanks OP, it was an okay brain off popcorn read, but I don't think I'll keep up with it.

The main SIKTC book is consistently good IMO. It's all the spinoff titles that are mid to outright bad.

Bro do you even read before getting triggered or is being a screeching tranny your default mode? They literally explain in the comic that they made a conspiracy to get rid of Nixon because he was too smart for them and threathening to take away control of their shadow government bullshit.

Goatman stories vary in description from a huge man in a mask to a sort of genetic mutant to a demonic entity and I went with a merger of the former and latter, entwined with local NA legends and the story of regional witchcraft.

I've seen a LOT of REEE reactions about SiKtC in the past year(+), barely even mentioning it is enough to send schizos into a rage?
I didn't even find the sidestories particularly bad. But a major blunder in the main series, just as you got to know more about the setting and the houses, was removing Erica from them entirely, gradually neutering and essentially removing her from the story. What the fuck they were thinking with this, especially when you've got such a cool and likeable protagonist as the series had, is anyone's idea. They seemed to have realized this themselves, since the series pretty much instantly turned into a 'prequel' fare about Erica growing up in house Slaughter. A shame really, the thread made me re-read the first arc and it's fucking S+++ tier.

Splendid series, kino art and great cast. It's also a strange comic in that the main part of it feels like an all-ages thing, what with the goofy characters and monster action but every now and then it turns truly serious and grimdark, like something out of a von Trier or Gaspar Noé flick.

From what I've seen most of the REEing about SIKTC is about the black gay dude who is barely relevant in the main title and dies halfway through, and his black gay boyfriend who doesn't even exist in the main title.

Thank you for bringing DoT to my attention. I'm reading through it now and absolutely loving it. I'm someone with a literally autistic fascination with mythology, mythopoeia, religious syncretism, and related subjects, and so this is right up my alley. The page where we learn about the Unified Conspiracy Timeline is a favorite; it's absolutely phenomenal, and I'm also a huge fan of what they're doing with Crowley and the Scarlet Woman so far.

Thanks again.

It is the Ur-Example of Conspiracy fiction, inspiring Dan Brown & Umberto Eco, so naturally it'd hit all the marks.
It also inspired The KLF, which I didn't even realize was the case until after I finished readings. I thought Kick Out the JAMs was a reference to them, but it actually refers to an even older song.

Along with Promethea.

Hickman's S.H.I.E.L.D. also still fits, even if it's more /his/ than /x/ schizo.

He seems like an interesting guy for sure but I need to take a break for my own safety. Very fun ideology to synthesize, I appreciate some real and honest anarchism in action instead of the larping masses. Not to be taken seriously but definitely should be considered.
