Why does Marvel treat him like trash?
Tony has carried the MCU for a decade, yet in the comics, he's repeating the same cycle. His technology gets stolen, he loses his company, he's broke, or he's completely vilified. Is Marvel ever going to give him the same treatment his live action counterpart had?

Marvel has not really cared much for the character or did a whole lot with him since the late 90s when they did that young Tony thing. Even leading up to that his main characteristic turned into
>Constantly pisses off all his friends
in his solo book and in West Coast Avengers/Force Works. It was just tony does a stupid, alienates himself from his team, then has to rescue them at the end of the story. They repeated that shit from 92 until about 98.

It's actually from the original dynamic between Iron Man and Tony Stark back when it was a secret identity
Iron Man is who Tony Stark wants to be, a modern day knight in shining armor
Toby Stark presents himself to the masses of this playboy innovator and is either beloved or loathed
Tony Stark in reality is vulnerablez neurotic and disabled but cannot come forward with it in fear of losing everything

Here's the real problem: Tony as a superhero largely has to do with warfare and the military-industrial complex, most of his villains are corrupt U.S. military guys or communist military guys. And the role of spy/military thriller can already be filled by Steve, Natasha, or Banner if anybody bothered to bring that aspect of the character back. And all those other characters have way more sympathetic reasons for being involved in military shenanigans than being a weapons dealer as well has having more fleshed out character traits/personalities/supporting cast/rogues gallery.
Most writers who know anything about the military want to write Steve instead of Tony.

>Captain America
Old 40s propaganda. Has no relevance beyond "Symbol of America"

>Iron Man
Basically a more realistic/plausible Batman but with none of the well crafted villains that made Batman good. A lot of his villains were Communists that aren't relevant anymore.

>Spider-Man
The only really good Marvel creation with good villains to back him up.

>Hulk
Planet Hulk was great, but beyond that he's just angry smash guy.

>Thor
Was interesting when he was just some dude named Donald Blake who was worthy of the Hammer, but making him the actual mythological god made him boring.

>Fantastic Four
Nobody can seem to wrap their heads around the fact that this isn't even a superhero comic. It's a sci-fi comic about a family with powers exploring places like Star Trek. Only reason their considered "superheros" is because they live in the same universe as the other superhero characters.

>X-Men
Was great back in the day, but the racism allegory has been run into the ground.

>Black Widow
Former commie villain of Iron Man. Became a Shield Agent because Marvel doesn't know what to do with her.

>Hawkeye
Another Iron Man villain turned Shield Agent because Marvel doesn't know what to do with him beyond being their Green Arrow.

Everyone else is just a nobody. Deadpoool is hard carried by Zoomer 3rd Wall humor and lol random internet humor, Guardians of the Galaxy are hard carried by the movies.

>Hulk is literally ANGRY MAN SMASH yet he seems to get a lot of the more out-there ideas in his stories.
Because those are DECONSTRUCTIVE stories that break down or dissect Hulk's characters and try to expand or give him something beyond the periphery of "anger issues."

That's why the other Avengers are lacking in comparison. You can only do so much with Thor and writers won't even bother expanding his pantheon and give him some actual threats like Perrikus or Gorr.

Captain America and Iron Man have always been in the rut. Their designs are too anachronistic and kitsch and haven't really had an overhaul since their introduction. Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Moon Knight are lightning in a bottle characters whose designs managed to leave readers with an everlasting impression. Cap is just a guy whose color palette is based on the american flag. Iron Man is just a drunk rich guy. How are you supposed to build off of those is what everyone ought to try to say?

>Spider-Man
>The only really good Marvel creation
I beg to differ Moon Knight and Nick Fury are also some of Marvel's best. Though their runs have been lagging behind Spider-Man's.
>X-Men
>Was great back in the day, but the racism allegory has been run into the ground.
Because it's usually conflated with its civil rights allegories for every time it's read. Though there's fun to be had between the runs. The only problem is Claremont's ego running the virtue signaling storytelling that it doesn't reign itself in until like issue #184. And even then, it's weird because Cyclops, being the face of the X-Men, gets his ass kicked by Storm AND replaced by Havok (who I'd reckon has far more potential than Cyclops). It's jarring with how Claremont handled this early portion of the run. Kitty was his female self-insert that made the early part insufferable. Nightcrawler, being the only decent character besides Forge, was in and out consecutively. Very rarely having a standout issue. Sure, he survived Dallas and is more likely to bang pussy between X-Calibur and X-Men. But I'd like to see more love and respect to him.
>Fantastic Four
>Nobody can seem to wrap their heads around the fact that this isn't even a superhero comic.
Because it's essentially Space Family Robinson meets The Challengers of the Unknown.

Anyway, I gotta dip. I have to get some frozen white castle for tonight.

Isn't Titanium Man the only Iron Man villain that's actually still a communist anyway? Considering how Marvel (and the rest of the comics industry) is still pretending actual WWII-era Nazis are still a clear and present danger, having just one actual Cold War Russian commie villain isn't a problem.

Though once Titanium Man's main goal became bringing back the USSR, the problem is why is this guy even fighting Iron Man anymore, he should be fighting the Winter Guard but they don't have their own book.

Have Tony lose all his money again, lose his company again, build a new armor, date some random heroine because nobody wants civilian supporting cast characters anymore, and ignore most of the Iron Man rogues gallery, same as most modern Iron Man runs.
