It's worth noting too that they lag in some obvious ways too, like if you actually look there's basically dick all in terms of furry 3d merch that isn't makeship shit, their's no furry equivalent to the massive weeb figure market (there is now actually but it quite literally just started in the last year or so and it's still very tiny in comparison). It's also worth noting the bit about becoming super rich from furry porn is far from true as well since it's such a big field, and also too if you really look into it you'll see a kinda staggering amount of these artists are from south of the border where USD goes farther and they don't live all that well, and that's not just furry art, 2d porn in general has a lot of hispanics behind it, I just noticed this recently and it's kinda crazy.
In the same way there's like 9 fursuitless furries for every 1 furrsuiter, those 9 are fairly low income or at least not rich or even particularly smart, though they for sure are over represented in sci and tech. It's a meme that's gotten very overblown.
