Such a wasted opportunity. They really could have established a villain origin story for her in this movie. It even seemed like it for a good chunk of the movie. Not because of the boyfriend thing as a boyfriend thing, which can be minimized as just teen emotions. Rather her whole relationship to her powers and how she was starting to see being a super as fucking up her life. That would have made for a MUCH better B-story than even the A-story they shat out.

I remember thinking this in the theater during my first (and only) viewing of it, so it's not exactly a deep insight. But that makes it even more bizarre that they started laying that foundation only to discard it in favor of some sort of "back to normal" do-over.
