The animation is far more inconsistent this season compared to the previous ones. They go all out in the musical segments, but then it looks like shit when characters just move and talk. Sera especially due to having a big dress and long arms look awkward. I really noticed it with Lute in episode 2. The part where she starts crying against the wall is so stiff and lifeless, and then the punch she does is very fluid and cool. And of course, Gravity looks amazing, but everywhere else she's so stiff I can hardly feel bad for her. The leaked storyboards were waaaay better.

To make things clear, I don't necessarily disagree with what Charlie's doing, but things were justifiably stacked against her and she kinda did fuck all to sell her idea. Adam is obviously flawed, but the issue to me is the narrative is trying to paint him as completely in the wrong. As for Pentious seeking redemption, you need to remember that this was after he had basically no option. Being actually punished and atoning for your crimes would've sped up the process. Also, I'd argue that Charlie barely had fuck all to do with his redemption, and we can see this with her "methods" when he was still undercover. That was her genuinely trying her best, and it's clear she had no fucking clue what she was doing. It just so happened that Pentious (again, after being left behind by the Vees) was genuinely willing to be a good person and that he ended up dying again. Most people in Hell will continue and continue to sin because they don't lose anything by not indulging in their vices. Finally, when it comes to Satan, Vivzie did confirm that he was talking out of his ass when it comes to being there before Lucifer. My point is that because he's the next guy in line, he has to be tough, even if it's a lot of hot air, because he understands his responsibility. Imps are regular hellborn, but they still are "ruled" over. Imagine what he would do if he could actually handle sinners who are literally banned from all the other Rings because of how fucking insane they are. Adam is the only one that views the sinners as his prized possessions stolen from him. Everyone else doesn’t really understand this at all since he’s the only one that loves them and hates them. He doesn’t allow himself to be abused by bad children.

Well, yeah, but you need to remember, this is Hell. These people are genuinely terrible fucking people who will self-sabotage and be selfish for the most part. They're kind of incapable of that and will take the opportunity to fuck other people for their own gain. It's what they did on Earth and if they're not being punished after death, why would they stop now? Speaking of Alastor, he's arguably one of the worst sinners in Hell, who very clearly is still a giant murderous scumbag. If they kept Pilot Alastor, you would've at least had a fun character, but now he's just a petty bitch.

Honestly, as much as people dislike the first episode for being a waste of an episode, I do appreciate that they try to show nuance to how Charlie is feeling about everything. I think that was sorely missing from the first season and was pretty important. Along with Lute getting to have a serious moment and also Adam's final smile before he dies plus the fact that this whole season is about the fact that Vox wanting to take over Heave is a bad thing, it gives me a glimmer of hope that there can truly be nuance to both sides woven into the narrative. It just irks me that Emily (a character were obviously supposed to root for and hope she gets her way) was being so fucking self-righteous about the whole thing and the narrative let her get away with it. There's also Abel who seems really chill about the fact that his dad died. I really hope Lute's arc is treated with some respect.

But this is the point, Hell, in the hazbinverse is just a place where assholes go. The only hell is the misery awful people create for each other. If Charlie actually succeded and made all the sinners into good people, they wouldnt even need to go to heaven, they could just replicate heaven in hell. Which just makes it kinda dumb how Charlie and Lucifer for that matter dont just topple the current overlord ran hell system which seems to be where most of the awfulness of it comes from. If they just put all the overlords in prison or something, Hell would be 10 times better instantaneously.
