Why was this advertised like it was a good thing? Did they just no realize that Benis was shit at that point?

They knew they just didn't care. It was another "fuck you" to the fans whom they openly hate and have so for decades.

Why are you people so obsessed with this guy? Bendis I mean, not superman

I remember a Youtuber having a picture of Superman in a tutu with the "Bendis is coming" logo and it made me laugh.

I seriously thinking there are names that set kids up for failure in life. Anthony Weiner was obsessed with sending pictures of his dick to women, and the guy with the last name Bendis ended up being a horrible faggot.

Are you asking why people discuss a comic book writer in a comic book board?

Some people mostly stick to one company, they might hear good things about Bendis in his prime but never actually hear about how much he fell off. People would go "oh Torso is good, oh his Daredevil is good, Alias is great, Ultimate Spider-Man is fun" and someone would hear about him that way but if they're someone who just generally prefers DC, they might not give him a read because they aren't as interested in the world he's working with. By the time Bendis was leaving, DC fans who didn't know about his later work would probably be excited for him to take on a character like Batman or a street level character (which didn't really happen aside from a few short things). Bendis fans who had battered wife syndrome at that point saw it as a new beginning "maybe he's just tired of Marvel, maybe he needs a change of scenery".

No, they really didn't, they thought he was still superstar writer Bendis the writer.
Reminder that up to this point they were still doing the New 52 no red shorts look for Superman. And after years of arguing with fans and other writers over it, they brought back the red trunks simply because Bendis asked for it.

Partly this, but also because DC probably looked at how well his Ultimate Spider-Man did back in the 00s and also assumed Miles Morales is a popular character because he was still around and soon to be in a movie in 2018. WB at this time was also looking for more diversity because they were chasing what they thought was a popular trend.
