These Costume Changes
I'm sure this isn't a big deal, just odd and I'm curious how anyone else feels about it. I've only now noticed because I don't read their books a lot. Maybe this has already been discussed.

Here are 2 characters that in my opinion don't have the best books, don't have a strong story history or even concrete personality points. Both obviously spinoffs, extensions of Spider-Man. But without my personal feelings on them and ignoring any other complaints that may be lodged against them I can't think of many times when anyone at all would bring up their design as a negative. It was almost always as far as I can remember a positive or perceived as a reason for their popularity. Among other things they coasted on their looks, their costumes before they even had fleshed out stories were cosplayed on visual appeal alone. And now they've changed both of them, and to my tastes for the worst. What the hell?
>Here's the one of the universally liked things about these characters, FUCK IT, let's change it.

How did this happen? Are there any articles about the reasoning behind this? AM I JUST CRAZY? Does everyone else think these are improvements and I'm the one guy who doesn't get it?

I'm just looking for general opinions, thanks.

They unironically look better anon. They felt like cheap Spider-Man suits before. I say this as someone who hates immensely these two fags, those suits look more unique. But remove those shoes, they still look bad

The amount of costumes they give Miles is crazy because I too prefer the original design (or the ones that don't stray too far or improve it like the base ITSV suit or that yellow variation in the insomniac games). These ones do too much different from the base and more simple and timeless classic spider-man design which is never good. Like it's not my favorite but I'd take the sequel spiderverse design over this one because at least the mask is still appealing. Stop overdesigning the lenses it almost always sucks.

Reallt? Maybe Miles I could see technically fitting that description but Gwen was such a radical take on the spider design on the costume. This new one is far more basic Spider-person costume design and new Miles is just raised Ben Reilly or Venom with bracers and shin guards.

Oh, damn. I didn't even pay attention to all that shit. You've made em realize the design is that much worse.

They’re still cheap Spider-Man suits.

Gwen's suits are consistently great. this is weaker than her normal one but not by much. she's got unique shapes, a unique palette and girl proportions which help her stand out in a pretty homogenous cast of spider fuckers.

Miles is the opposite. because the comics are still trying to push him as a "co-spider man" or even "the true spider man" he's not allowed to have a palette outside of of Peters cuz those are the "real spider man colors," and switching them for him would be admitting defeat in the language of character design. So he has his extremely narrow palette, and his face HAS to be black or he'll just look like peter, and it makes ever alt costume they give him look like a third rate palette swap. Gwen trades being iconic for being unique. Miles fails at both.
