There is also the very obvious (especially in that particular pesterlog) fact that Roxy is basically girl!Dave but actually charismatic and not an awkward goober which is very much a vibe that I enjoy quite a bit and is what makes me want to ship them. Seriously though I feel like Hussie struck it out of the park with her and then when it came to the other alpha kids he just kinda...gassed out. I think they would actually be fairly positive influences on each other. They both like to ramble, so they would just be mutually going off on these absurd incoherent tangents for hours on end with neither person ever getting tired of it or feeling bored. There's no mutual antagonism, so there isn't that snarky one-upmanship that exists with Dave and Rose or Dave and Karkat (not to say I don't love that snarky one-upmanship or anything), they'd be much more at peace with one another, like there wouldn't be the need to put up any fronts or anything. It's a combination of things but the main issues were:
1. Fuck up the Hiveswap Kickstarter and lose all the money by stupidly choosing to go through a random dev team (Odd Gentlemen) who wasted the 2 million dollars then told him to fuck off, instead of setting up an in-house studio (which he ended up having to do anyway, once all the money had already been wasted)

2. Signing a publishing contract with Viz that put them in control of not only physical publishing but also digital publishing and website maintenance, which they then decided to not bother doing, causing the website to fall into disrepair

3. Being generally lazy and bad at brand management (which is probably why he did points 1 and 2, both were examples of him taking the 'easy way' because he couldn't be fucked putting in the work and both times it came back to bite him on the ass).

TLDR: He fumbled it by being lazy/stupid when it came to project and brand management.
