Ruby is easy indeed. RGSS3 is also imo a lot easier to grasp than the javascript builds, in part because they throw everything in one file, but also because javascript has less structure.
I think, it may have been eventing. MZ has a search tool and a list of events + sorting maps inside the map viewer is easier.
It also supports 32x32 tiles, so you can jump from vx ace to mz.
Usually people complain about the tile layer count (MZ supports 4 layers, so you have two more; in VX and VX Ace, people would need to either script and make the game load an additional map, or go parallaxing shit... or simply use event stacking to add graphics where needed; that last one is too hard apparently; much like cutting up / customizing tilesets)
Nothing changed with MV/MZ, but Antivirus scanners did change. They're more harsh against obfuscation techniques used by virusses, such as humongous strings, _0xblahbla function names, self references, base64 nonsense, functions that do nothing, etc.
the virus detections are tagged !ml (machine learning). That is what I was referring to at least.
Personally I like VX and VX Ace. Graphically they're a lot better imo. the default assets of MZ/MV, 48x48 is just ugly somehow. more colors / pixels isn't always good.
+ the tilesets don't fit one another somehow...
also most of the community sells shit, instead of just offering some free stuff. It's usually obfuscated as well, causing lag, and simply broken overal, even if it is just because of plugins being buggy
