My Advanced Realistic Humanoid Robots Project - #6
Last Threads: https://warosu.org/diy/?task=search2&search_username=artbyrobot

To begin: the project goal: I am working to make a series of humanoid robots. I am using a Biblical theme of naming the first 3 robots I make Adam, Eve, and Abel. The goal is for these robots to have human body inspired musculoskeletal systems, advanced AI, and that they look human and pass for human to a casual observer at least at a distance. They must be able to walk, talk, run, dance, do sports, do chores, manufacture products, and make more robots just like themselves if not even better. My aim is to build a single robot arm and head and then add sufficiently advanced AI to that arm and head to enable it to build the rest of its own body for me. This way I am delegating the work of building the majority of my first humanoid robot to that robot rather than doing that work myself - and this is to save me time.

In a like manner, my goal with the AI is to code just enough AI that the AI can begin coding itself and this way I don't have to code most of the AI myself because it will self create itself. I liken this to building a seed and that seed growing into a tree because for me to code that tree would take too long for me and just creating the seed would then save me time.

Long time listener, first time caller here; I am in the process of relocating my hot water heater. It's a 1920s house with crawl space and all copper piping. In my picture, I have taken a length of 3/4" copper pipe and annealed it along about 18" and have used a conduit bender to no success here. As you can see, it has been a bit flattened on the radius. My thinking is that having a gradual radius vs a 90 degree fitting will alleviate any water hammering on the corner of a 90 degree fitting, therefore lengthening the life of my new pipe. Thoughts? Is this completely retarded of an idea? Nothing has been installed yet and I want to make sure this pipe lasts.

Thread 2956955
I’m looking to get started with welding and would appreciate some guidance. I don’t know much yet, so if someone could explain the basics like the differences between MIG and TIG and suggest where a beginner should start.
My plan is to pick up an inexpensive welder from Harbor Freight and look for used accessories on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist to get going.
As for power, my garage has a 30amp line with a 20amp rated outlet, as well as a 240V 40amp dryer outlet on the shared wall. The house has a 200 amp main breaker, with room to upgrade to 300 amps if needed.
I plan to begin with a 120V welder and upgrade later as I gain more experience. My initial projects will include basic automotive work, welding exhausts, patching rusted body panels, frame rails, square tubing, and brackets. I don’t plan to work with stainless steel or aluminum at this for now.
Thanks

MIG is the standard for body & muffler shops doing everyday work.
TIG is the standard for high-end race car custom exhaust, intercooler plumbing, custom intake manifolds, tube chassis, and so on.

This. MIG is extremely easy to learn, the machine does almost everything for you. It feeds the filler material, all you do is pull the trigger (on/off) and move it around. TIG is the opposite end of the spectrum as you have to do three things simultaneously: move the torch, move the filler...

Are left hand drill bits worth it?
When I try to remove severed bolts using a regular drill bit and bolt extractor, it almost never works. It only works like 1 out of 10 times if I’m lucky.

Do left drill hand drill bits work? How many times out of 10 would you estimate does it work?

Garden swing hinge
Bought the garden swing bench years ago—mostly solid, but the chain-on-shackle hinge is weak. Started squeaking, then the chain grooved the shackle. Now it jumps the groove on big swings, making a loud crack. Some swings use nylon spacers; I want bearings instead to make it last. Original shackle’s hard to replace, so I’d sleeve a bearing to fit inside it. Bearings handle static/dynamic loads; bolt is M10.
Thoughts on this fix?

I can't have a smoker in the apartment I'm in, but I badly want a smoker.
I am just enough of a redneck to know as long as your heat isn't that high you can make a smoker out of litterly anything that slows the smoke down from just blowing away.
Now the issue with all my designs is they still roll enough smoke to get the FD called on me.
I need to figure out a way to keep good air flow but reduce smoke coming out of the smoker.
Also it needs to be small. Like Webber kettle grill sized.

I am thinking a wet sponge or even wet wash clothes over a chimney might be the key.

Let me know what you all are thinking.

Winch for logging
Average joe with forest property and ancient farm equipment here.
Need a winch to pull logs uphill and through ditches. Eventually i would also like to be able to pull down dead trees and add a log arch to my trailer.

picrel is the only reasonable winch you can get in my part of the free world. any more fancy than that and you're in unobtainium-territory as a hobbyist. only found two guys on the tubes reviewing this winch and they seem to shill it hard, but at that price point it's cheap enough to risk it.

dimension-wise the biggest logs will have a max. length of 3 meters / 10 feet and max diameter of 70 cm / 27.5 inch. so well within the pulling capacity.

not sure yet if it makes sense to build a log arch for my trailer as it has a higher center of gravity with 82 cm / 32 inch height. main goal really is not to be forced to split the wood by hand on site and walk uphill a million times.

what do you guys think? you got pics of your setup?

You got some gas. Maybe your thermocouple isn't actually being heated by the pilot. Maybe your pilot has dlrestricted gas flow so it's not actually getting hot enough. That's pretty much it....

Electricians drink a lot of cheap beer
Scrappy here again and I have found a gold mine, but with a hitch. Behind an electrical contractor's building there are some dumpsters that always contain beer cans and copper wires. Copper wires can get good money, especially the bare ones. But there is a homeless male living in a tent here and he says that all of it is his and he threatened to cut me. I told one of the electricians and he said that the cops won't do anything. This situation is intolerable because the dumpsters are often full when the hauler arrives, so the bum actually collects nothing. What can I throw into his tent to neutralize him while I collect?

I’ve been trying to reach you (pls respond to my dm's). The secret to living longer is monoatomic gold remember the Smurf guy who was drinking colloidal silver well the reason his skin turned blue was he oxidize because of the silver so if you drink atomize gold you’ll have an atom of gold with all your cells, and I think that prevents all kinds of illness that helps you live longer. Ormus. The semen of the gods, it’s a white powder made from gold. You just do electrolysis you put gold on the positive and negative electrons put it in water with a little bit of salt. Let it run for an hour on direct currents, then evaporate the water and the powder left over is gold. If you melted it, it would go back to solid gold however, it’s just a atomize gold.

Red spray paint vs red airbrush acrylic
This is a mesh of little connected metal squares. People used to make coin pouches out of this in the flapper era.

I'm thinking about making it a dress / mail for a sculpture. I was thinking of making it red.

Supposing getting a good can of spray paint is a little less expensive that buying a used airbrush, which would you suggest for uniformly covering the mesh fabric? I want to avoid bubbles, peeling, and deteriorating quality. What would you suggest?

is there any benefit to a wood stove/pellet stove if i already have a gas furnace and im only paying $3.60/mcf

i cant imagine after the hidden expenses of wood (stacking, drying, splitting, hauling) it comes out ahead vs a literal pipe that delivers gas into a furnace. the only exception is if you are a britbong or a eurofag with insane energy prices

i do think they are comfy af but id rather get a fireplace for the aesthetics at that point.
