Are they good? Ugly? Gay?
Where can I get one that's chunky and not see-through?

How you wear it to create that smooth line in the waist instead of having waistband exposed? Tucking it in feels silly.

You will be red like an apple in the evening from the itch but at least you were based in the eyes of a few "people in the know"

(the people in the know are 4chan/reddit autists, not old fashioned rich people)

you don't. The cozy look is intended.

ribbed undershirt is the classic. But that's itchy. Full Tshirt feels better. Over it probably a coat.

If this is happening to you then either you're allergic as fuck to all wool or you need to get better quality wool pieces where the staple lengths are actually long and not third rate leftover garbage

I did some research and apparently most Irish wool mills use super-washed or south american wool because Irish wool is too itchy. And nearly all of them are machine made unless you pay into the two-hundreds.

You wear an undershirt if you don't want your nipples to poke through.

Euroshit like Barbour/LMSM/Drakes.

$200 is too cheap for a good wool sweater

I have an Aran on the way, will probably update this thread once it arrives. I'm a manlet so even S might be a bit baggy, if so I'll probably wear it around the house.

They can hang a little strange in my opinion. Like the weight distribution.
Buy vintage, much MUCH cheaper. Go on depop and look up aran and irish wool and find one that doesn't look like its been sent through the dryer.
its the off season so you may be able to get a good deal on some.

But honestly, the best thing to get is "Lambswool sweaters"
I got one a couple months back and its so soft I can wear it without a shirt if I wanted and it doesn't itch at all. It was 18 bucks, the thing new is probably closer to 100.
Best of luck, I personally wouldn't get another cable knit, they're too hit and miss and the bad ones are really bad.

Almost. What you really want are cashmere wool sweaters, but not shitty cheap ones like Uniqlo where the cashmere yarns are leftovers that no other brands wanted

Unless your woman sits at home all day with hours of free time then it is going to take her several months. Easier to just buy what you want.

Uh, yeah, that's how long sweaters are supposed to take to knit, sweatie. You start knitting in the summer, so that you're done by the beginning of winter. Stop being an instant gratification junkie. Take your time in creating and using your things and cherish, instead of mindlessly consooming and discarding things.

Or just buy something immediately that will last once and be done with it instead of making your woman knit like it's her full time job. Why immediately assume consumerism?

Because I want to wear something made by my woman, not some random guy (or a brown child in a sweatshop) like a faggot. I want it to be a one of a kind piece made by my wife for me and cherish it for years and decades, and maybe even pass it down to my children, giving it a unique meaning and value that you can't buy in any store even if you pay tens of thousands of dollars to a luxury brand. It's called love and family. Something you consumerist NPC degenerates wouldn't understand.

Imagine thinking your wife doing something for you with love and affection is a "job". This is why modern people are subhuman and can't find anyone who will love them, care about them and sacrifice for them, because they are too materialistic, narcissistic and sociopathic to be capable of living for others.

The itchiness comes from oil in the wool being removed from the fleece, which is a modern development. Historically knitwear didn't have this problem. You need to make sure that the sweater is made from unprocessed wool and it won't do this.

Based thread, bought a few recently.
One is merino wool for officewear, and one is lambs wool which is "inferior" but more insulating for travels in the cold.
I'd suggest looking into possum fur whether it's merino or not, those are more fuzzy if you can handle the itch but absolute comfy (look at AUS/NZ sites for these)
