I was thinking of buying linen pants for the summer, but didn't know they shrink and last time they became a full 4 inches shorter after the first wash and I had to toss them.

Is it a good idea to just buy them a couple sizes larger/longer so they fit better after washing? I do this with thrift shop wool sweaters, buy them two sizes larger and then occasionally stretch them a bit if needed. They still fit rather well after shrinking.

>inb4 hand wash them, dry them at room temperature and have a turkish priest bless them

Nobody has time for that.

It was most likely a linen viscose blend. Linen does not shrink.

I had already tried that, washing them at 30 degrees and drying them without direct sunlight. Thanks anyway.

could it be a case of
>cheap fashion where the fabric wasn't washed before making the clothes out of it?

Linen is the fabric of the peasants. It doesn't need dry cleaning. Just hand wash them in a bucket and air dry them, because it's kind of a delicate fabric because of its loose weave. Washing and drying it in a machine will fuck it up.

Linen is the fabric of angels.
1Then He called into my ears with a loud voice, saying, "Bring near those appointed over the city, and each one his weapon of destruction in his hand."
2And behold six men coming from the way of the upper gate, which is turned northward; each man has his sledgehammer in his hand, and one man among them clothed in linen with a scribe's tablet on his loins, and they came and stood beside the copper altar.
3And the glory of the God of Israel lifted itself from upon the cherub upon which it had been, to the threshold of the House, and He called to the man clothed in linen, upon whose loins was the scribe's tablet.
4And the Lord said to him, "Pass through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and you shall mark a sign upon the foreheads of the men who are sighing and moaning over all the abominations that were done in its midst."
7And He said to them, "Defile the House and fill the courts with the slain [and] go out," and they went out and smote in the city.
11And behold, the man clothed in linen, on whose loins was the tablet, replied with a word, saying, "I have done according to all that You have commanded me."

OP phrased it in a way that implies linen shrinks more than the usual amount.

I've got some linen shirts but does anyone know where I can cop a scribe's tablet? I don't want the cool kids to make fun of me when they see I don't have a tablet upon my loins.
