>>18470346no not really. yes other fabrics soften but the garment as a whole degrades along with it and the fabric thins out. denim doesn't have this problem it's extremely durable, tends not to fail in more than a localized area, looks cool as it degrades, and the fact it tends to use a non colorfast indigo dye plays into this strength. we could go into why exactly that's the case, and the way 3x1 twill weaves fail compared to other fabrics if you have a basic understanding of how textiles work and you've taken physics but if i gotta tl;dr all that its a bit too much for a shitposting forum.
denim's not by any means the ONLY fabric that improves instead of degrades with age. but there's not very many of them and denim's the most versatile one.
>>18470445i find that cropped denim jackets never really need more than a steam once in a while, even ones i work in. they only get a wash if i spill shit that stains on myself.
longer denim jackets and ones with pockets like type iii mod's, i like to wash once in a while to shrink the body back so its tight. if you use the pockets it stretches the gut area out on the jacket and makes it look like you have a gunt when you don't.
