>>18469498No. I guess not yet (?).
I'm seriously considering it, tax free it's 10300โฌ new directly from the Wako boutique.
Maybe once I get a steady full time job here. Right now, I just wanted to check it out and man... It's sadly much, much prettier than I expected.
Look at this.
https://files.catbox.moe/c1f7gp.mp4
Will I look weird if I use a pocket watch (without the chain)? I don't want a wrist watch because it isn't practical (constant pressure, hand has less freedom, inconvenient when washing hands...) and I don't carry my phone because it's big and heavy.
>>18469466 (OP)>watch threadWhich one is this one? What's your manifesto? What's your economic policy?
>>18469541I noticed some WT are really against small talk so I mentioned fellowship
>>18469494Thanks. It was me armani chad. I have impeccable taste if I say so myself
>>18469501Kek, thereโs really no such thing as an endgame watch, is there?
There should be a rule that once you declare your latest watch purchase to be โendgameโ then you can no longer access watch social media or enter boutiques.
>>18469541>Which one is this one?Thereโs only two: /wt/ and /nawt/
This one is faster-moving, has a lot more social posting and allows avatarfagging; however, it tends to be a little angrier and more toxic (some would say, bitter).
/nawt/ is the other thread. Slower, no avatarfagging, except when we raid them when weโre bored. Itโs a little more boring since itโs just talking about watches, which are, letโs be honest, pretty boring.
tips for wedding watch? thinking of giving one to my best-man aswell to match.
considering tissot prx dont want anything more expensive than that
>>18469628Tone fair, bitterposting is as tolerated, even encouraged, as frenposting. You really canโt have one without the other. Naturally, it goes without saying that the avatarfags are also some of the bitterest posters ITT. Thatโs what makes this thread fun.
Reposting my newest acquisition, bet you casuals don't even service your own watches.
>>18469634If PRX, only quartz. Mechanicals have the ticking time-bomb escapement, so the jews could won you through authorized service centers.
>>18469679i asked you multiple times before how can i get into servicing watches and you cocksucker never answer
>>18469628There's also the shitter thread that is kind of cool.
>>18469685If you don't know, you're probably not supposed to to being with.
Somebody bless this thread already.
I wouldnโt wear a watch unless it was super cool and could transform me into a variety of aliensโten, to be exact.

>>18469466 (OP)It's my Dad's birthday coming up and I want him to get him a watch as a gift. It's also going to be an heirloom to pass on to his grandson.
I've narrowed search to 2 watches. A Sinn 556 or a Hamilton Khaki.
Does anyone have any experience with a Sinn 556 or Hamilton Khaki Field?
I'm looking for something legible (bad eyesight) and can withstand shocks because my Dad does a lot of gardening and manual labor things.
The Sinn is more expensive but is it better made?
Thanks for the help.

>>18469679Facts my favorite Hamilton is fucking up after years of dropping and service would cost more than what I paid for it
>>18470002I don't see this particular Sinn as a gift watch. The dial if way too autistic for regular person to enjoy. Hamilton looks better but it's still one of the most basic beaters you can get. Maybe consider something less casual without going full dress.

>>18470706Probably the Seiko because it reminds me of that pathetic "kofe time" guy.

>>18470706None. You do not buy watches to get rid of them, don't be one of these plebeians. Keep what you buy, cherish them, each of them tell a story, each of them were once your next best timepiece.
>>18470706The Moser. Itโs the one you seem to like the least. You post it the least.

That's 39mm right?
Hotly debating a Longines Zulu Time vs a Tudor Pelagos LHD. Pic related.
>>18471730Thanks! It's the 39mm, yeh. This is my humble collection so far. I bought the Tissot when I got my dream job, the Seiko when I got a promotion, and now the Longines that I'm financially secure. It's roughly two years between each purpose. I'll post a pic of the case back as well.
>>18471730Ops, I posted the pictures in the wrong order.
>>18471740Nice.
Can you take a nicely centered pic of the Alpinist and the Spirit Zulu?
I know exactly how "big" the Alpinist wears, and that would give me a great comparison.
From this pic at least, the Spirit Zulu looks a lot wider, even though they're both supposedly 39mm
>>18471741They're the same size, but the Longines feels twice as heavy. In a good way, that is.
>>18471743Thanks bro.
That's a really nice and tasteful watch, regardless of price segment.
Feel free to drop more pics, especially in dailight.
>>18471287They have a whole range of smutty watches.
>>18471747GOD I wish I were that shark
>>18471746Last picture I'll post. If you're looking to buy it I can only say that so far it feels great. The Seiko Alpinist came with a horrible wristband, and the plastic movement of the compass doesn't feel great. Nor do I like the cyclops that much. The jump in quality between the two is noticable. I still love the Seiko though; it is a great entry-piece for a novice enthusiast like myself. Now that I've bought the Zulu I doubt I'll be buying another watch for at least half a decade, if ever.

>>18471759It's like brass. And it's a lot more subtle than I thought it would be. Like most I think the promotional pictures have been somewhat detering; they simply made the watch look a bit gaudy. I wasn't planning to buy this version before I went into the shop, but now I'm glad they had it.
>>18471764Did you see or try this version?
>>18471758That's a five (5) star watch (out of five)

Since I had bought my previous watches there I asked if they'd be willing to offer me a discount, and they were kind enough to shave the cost down by roughly 300 dollars.

Not directly watch related but I thought I'd let people know. >>18475510what did you finna boughta?
Why yes, I did just post the best watch ever made.
what budget brand has the best build quality and finish?
i want a beater watch. ill probably go with diver style and i cant decide if id be better off with something like "homage" san martin or steinhart (basically sub replica) or something more original like citizen promaster or orient mako/ray with sapphire glass
i can compare pictures and specs all day, but in the end the most important thing to me is how well made it feels and that is something that you cant find out without handling them all. so im asking you guys.
>>18475458>>18475472Not even the same watch.
>>18475546Get a Tudor to impress yourself, poolex to impress others.
>>18475546You answered your own question, Grand Seiko is known to have great finishing, you can get a quartz one almost new at $1500.
But 1 the difference is at the macro level, you can't see it with your eyes, and 2, once your wear the watch a week, the zaratsu is already scratched. What's the point?
I'd rather chose watches that age well, that alternate brushing and polishing, that don't have too much scratchable surfaces and so on, that's smarter imo.
>>18475563Tudor finishing is meh, they have many QC problems, misaligned indices and so on.
bought a bb58 today I really like it bros
>>18475034Model No? Wrist size? Looks mint, love the warm colours
>>18475206It's Seiko
>>18475648nah just the black dial, I do like the gmt.
>>18475523A vintage Seiko.
>>18475640>Model No? Wrist size? It's the SRPG17. I've no idea what my wrist size is but the case of this watch is slightly smaller than the normal turtle. It has the same dimensions as the captain willard. It's 42mm lug to lug but wears much smaller. Most 42mm watches look too big on my wrist.
>>18475115>j1s are made inside japan.I'm not sure that's entirely true. It's just a designation that they are intended for the japanese domestic market. Japs have different laws regarding what makes a watch made in japan.
>>18475824if they supervise the whole production there should be no issue if it's made in japan or china

If I was to ever spend thousands on a watch again I'd want something like this. Even if some other brand. Never understood people spending $10k on some metal case that looks no better than a $500 watch.
