How do I get a short haircut but without it looking like this? I want it short on the back and sides, with a bit longer on top, but I don't want it to look like I've just had a haircut. And I don't want it to look like picrel. When I get a haircut, usually this is how I end up looking. Please help!

I usually ask for a crew cut, but I got straight hair, not sure how it works with curly. My brothers look kind like your pic if they let it grow a bit.

That's not a short haircut, then. Your pic is short sides and a bit longer on top exactly. Go for medium length with the sides and the neck cleaned up.
