>>18471579 (OP)They're a meme. They are high end because they use antique production methods and machines. Which give them a unique, vintage look. If you're looking for durability, then modern jeans made with projectile looms are more durable, because they're much more tightly woven.
I'm pretty happy with my N&F. I gave up on cheap jeans after 2 pairs of levis failed on me within a couple of months. Ignore the retard saying good jeans are a scam.
>>18471632I am transitioning into a true office job, so no need for another rugged pair. I plan to keep my older, cheaper jeans for real work. I wanted these for more of the style and the denim itself.
>>18471579 (OP)>Cowboy themed jeans>Not offered in groovy guywhy are they like this
>>18471579 (OP)Naked and famous isn't that high end. You get get stuff for like $60 when they're getting rid of stock

>>18471800It's still higher end compared to what I am used to. Plus I've been told they are comfortable.
>>18471632LOLno your cheap jeans are not more durable because they're made on a projectile loom. they're also made with short staple length cotton negating any upside of the tight weave. tight weaves are much more likely to develop blowouts due to having less give so real world they're less durable than loose weaves.
you can get projectile loomed extra long staple from the upscale and designer prefaded brands. like the stuff you see at nordstrom or on ssence. iron heart and evisu do it too i'm sure other denim bro brands as well.
ur jeans are made from the cutting floor scraps of the good jeans you can cope but they're not the same.
>>18471579 (OP)Naked and Famous is the floor of good denim. Then and ACP

and also some of them like the full counts, warehouse's and red clouds etc can be had in pre-faded too not just raw.
The brands I have worn in order of how good they were:

You can do better than Naked & Famous for the same money. The Sugar Cane 1947 or TCB 50s are almost universally liked, look flattering on most guys and can be found for well under $200. And please ignore the reddit faggotry about never washing your jeans.
Remember when APCs were the coolest thing you could put on your legs. Lol.
Dunno how you guys wear selvedge denim. I bought a pair of jeans since they were 50% off. Then I realized selvedge leech indigo so now I never want to wear them.
Do you guys call ahead making sure whoever you're going to doesn't own a light coloured couch? Do you go out first to make sure the grass isn't dewy? Do you watch the forecast to see whether it's gonna rain or not? Do you not wear your jeans during winter because of the snow?
Seems like a fucking hassle to me. I don't want to have to consider all the potential ramifications of wearing my pants.
>>18472317Once you wash them a few times the amount of indigo that rubs off in day to day wear is negligible.
Nowhere else to post this. But if I want long lasting work jeans what metrics should I be looking at? I have Wrangler and Rustler(wrangler sub brand) that works just fine but I want higher quality than just these. Levis are more fashion so I only pick those up at thrift store prices(20-30$). Cost is not that important to me if its higher quality.

>>18473839>it looks gay and retardedgod, just shut the fuck up already. you won't even know unless it's cuffed
selvedge is indistinguishable from regular denim. the only way you'd know it's selvedge is if it's cuffed and you see the selvedge line
>>18473842it depends.
>sanforizedno way to tell if they're uncuffed.
>unsanforizedyou can usually tell if jeans are unsanforized without a cuff and nearly all unsanforized jeans are selvedge.
if one of the legs twists around like this they're unsanforized. you can tell without the cuff. the direction of the twist and what leg it shows up depends on the direction of the twill weave of the particular jeans.
the crotch area will often times skew along with the leg twist, so a \ shaped fly is another sign.
some unsanforized jeans will not have the leg twist because they haven't been washed, and some manufacturers counter-skew their jeans to to counter the twist.
or if the denim has a hairy texture to it they're unsanforized. hard to explain but you'd know it if you've seen it. the jeans will reflect light less, look more matte and striking to the eye from a distance.
pretty much all unsanforized jeans are selvedge. other than a few exceptions like a niche fabric ih does and some vintage stuff like lee's old half selvedge.
oh and here's one more exception to the rule: a lot of vintage jeans without any visible selvedge id are selvedge. old western jeans tended to use a double felled outseam for comfort on the saddle + strength and nobody really cared about the selvedge id back then. so the jeans were selvedge and made on a shuttle loom but they just cut the self-edge of the fabric off and threw it in the trash or used it somewhere rolled up into a seam where it isn't visible.
this pic's a bit better, because with the faded jeans you can see how the leg twist would be obvious even if the jeans weren't cuffed.
ANOTHER exception i forgot. a lot of high end designer jeans copy the leg twist design motif so if you ever see stuff like symmetrical leg twists on both legs they're probably designer type stuff.

>>18471601why should i buy japanese jeans instead of the popular brands? i was planning to buy some levi's/lee/true religion jeans at the thrifting stores
>>18476514Buy what you want
99% of the people buying "high end" denim are not working jobs that warrant the supposed higher durability they offer. And anyone who does work such a job is simply buying Wrangler's from Walmart, because what proper tradesman is buying fucking $200+ jeans?
In short, it's another one of those meme luxury products purchased by consoomers.
>>18473897never heard of heat rash
>>18476573I like heavy jeans like my dad wore growing up
If it ain't double saddle stitched jeans, I ain't wearing it.
>>18476573There is a huge difference between mall jeans and "high end" jeans. For one thing, the staple length of the cotton, which directly affects the feel of the denim, and it's durability (meaning you won't be buying jeans every 6 months - not that you are a carpenter). You do you, but it isn't just a meme.
You guys seem to know your jeans. Anyone know any jeans that have sort of a similar fit to Naked and Famous True Guy but with just a bit slimmer leg opening? These fit great everywhere but I just wish they weren't as wide at my ankles.
>>18476573>99% of the people buying "high end" denim are not working jobs that warrant the supposed higher durability they offer. If you're buying "high end" denim for durability you are retarded. For one, they are actually less durable, not more, most japanese repro brands use cotton thread instead of poly because it fades differently and is more authentic. And second, how much more durable could they be to be worth a 10x to 20x markup over a cheap pair of Rustlers or whatever, it's obviously never gonna be worth it. Expensive jeans are for fashion and yes jeans became a fashion piece decades ago when Hollywood made them popular, we're well past the "jeans are only for blue collar workers" debate by now.
>>18476721>meaning you won't be buying jeans every 6 monthsYou won't be doing this with Wranglers or Lee's either, if you aren't a complete moron. This is such a stupid meme that people keep parroting to justify their dumb "luxury" purchases.
Idk what end they are but I buy all my jeans from APC and they are good
>>18476825Is there any ways to make cotton stronger or did duck pants figure that out years ago? Like ways to spin the thread before its made into fabric and the likes?
>>18476972I had to buy Levis every 6 months due to holes, but granted I didn't repair them. Levis are hard to find without spandex, and are very light. They aren't durable.
>>18478175The problem is not the thread used to weave the fabric, but rather the thread used to sew the garment together. https://www.heddels.com/2014/11/know-your-thread-types-cotton-polyester-polycotton/
>>18478645Sure they aren't exactly what they used to be, but are you rubbing your knee on gravel every day or something? If that's the case you should be buying double-knee work pants anyways.
>>18478655This is the reason I hate repos. I like expensive jeans, but I am not going to buy jeans that are weaker than mall slop. I guess buying Iron Heart new on Ebay so you don't spend full price is your best bet if you want durability.
>>18478659Idk how many steps I take a day, but it's a lot. Very active job. Holes always appear at the crotch after about 6 months just due to friction. I repair them now, though.
>>18478664Fair nuff. Maybe I just have a wide thigh-gap or something. I live in a onions city where I also walk everywhere, but I haven't had this problem yet.
>>18478645I burn through Tru Spec cargo pants roughly every year and its knees that burn out the most when installing cat5/fiber optic. My job is hardly physicals compared to most but every 6 months sounds about right for a proper trade job when it comes to pants. Truspec is roughly better than 5'11 pants but average in terms of actual military brands like crye precision or arcteryx.
If you want jeans that hold up a bit longer then be sure to buy the rugged wrangler jeans. Stronger than Levi's but slightly cheaper in cost.
How come all the Red Cast Heritage models look so bad? Certainly it canโt be the jeans, r-right?
>>18478693Ugly, or the jeans look like they donโt fit
>>18478694Do you have a particular picture in mind? They generally look fine, though obviously they don't wash the jeans which might change the fit, significantly if they're raw unwashed unsanforized jeans.
>>18478691they size the jeans for their models like redditors because that's kinda their market.
if you throw 200 pairs of jeans at random onto the same guy and his build is anything other than saint laurent model rail thin at least half of them are going to look bad.
and IMO raw denim always looks weird/bad until its been worn at least a week because of how much jeans change shape to fit your body. obviously they don't do that for model pics. when a model just slaps jeans on really fast you don't get anything close to the same fit the jeans will actually have when you start wearing them. case in point i started a pair of 1 wash unsanforized jeans last month. when i got them the thigh was slim and the seat was tight. now the seat's regular and the thigh is relaxed. they look like completely different jeans. at first they looked awkward on me with a tucked shirt but now that they've molded to my body they look amazing.
i personally just look up fit pics on other websites with a japanese vpn to see what jeans look like the way i wear them. and i look on instagram. i don't like how almost all the western retailers do their fit pics.
>>18478691id say the main reason every repro jean looks bad on red cast and self edge is because they size their models true to size. but if you go on sufu or asian message boards you'll quickly realize basically everyone wears them more like 1-3 sizes up.
all those retailers i've visited the employees are all skinny fit types who probably don't think about this stuff.

otherwise when they use short staple its on purpose to give the denim a lumpy or neppy texture.
if you're happy with cheap jeans that aren't consistently sized, sewn well and the fabric has zero character then by all means.
