i predict capes will make a comeback in 10-20 years starting in europe. and i think it will be for practical reasons not style at first.
with stabbings on the rise in europe and cucked gun control, a thick cloak or jacket to quickly wrap around your arm is legitimately one of the best things you guys have to defend yourselves lmao.
your arm's one of the few areas you probably won't die if you get stabbed, so a cloak or jacket can act as a shield. with only a little bit of practice you can learn to wrap and unwrap it quickly around your arm and whip it out. this both greatly extends your range and disrupts your attacker's vision, which can create an opportunity to either flee or rush your attacker down.

people figured that out centuries ago, just make it attach with snaps, a clasp or brooch that don't take a lot of force to break open.
for a modern example look at neck knives and how a lot of them attach with little plastic snaps that pop open with a light tug so you can't accidentally strange yourself with it.
