Metal is an unattractive genre both in fashion and music. I like metal, but it’s like a guilty pleasure. It’s the neckbeard of music, and I would never openly admit it, especially in front of a normal woman.

Like the other poster said, the aesthetic only works for women, just like goth, and is essentially a costume. Do you want to fuck her or the outfit? Women can get away with looking cheesy.

Metal was never really in, unless you count the moment in history where everyone wanted vintage band t-shirts. Chrome Hearts is still popular but they are more biker than metal.

Definitely more of a biker thing then metal I would say, but yeah metal has never been mainstream but I'd say it's not a bad thing, it filters out people and when people who do have a similar interest approach you and come up to chat with you on the basis of seeing you're the only metalhead or alternative looking person then you know you'll probably have a better time getting along.
