>Cartridge, sperging over derby vs /pol/silver got old in my 20s.
When I went back to carts after a few years as a safety razor user, I got the best shave of my life.

Safety razors taught me to follow the map of my whiskers and properly prepare the skin for shaving, as well as using a proper shaving soap.
Take that experience and then combine it with a superior product and you get the smoothest shave in the quickest time.

Neither. Shaving is for fags and roasties. Normal men and women don't remove the hair from their skin and don't damage their bodies with razor scars.

Safeties biggest benefit is that you can comfortably cut your hair down from long to short with almost no issues(provided that you clean your face before shaving to hydrate it or shower before shaving). Real comfy shave that lasts longer.

I did use safety razors for a long time and I still do on some parts of my face, but I've discovered that disposable razors provide a far better shave and also last quite long. I don't have all that much facial hair to begin with so it wvorks for me.

Also, it's OK to bring these in the hand luggage on airplanes, unlike razor blades.

I had been using cartridges for most of my life. Still the most comfortable ATG shave in my opinion.

I've recently switched to safety razors and shaving WTG-only. It's not as close ATG with cartridges, but safety razors shaves closer than WTG with cartridges, the blades are way cheaper, and my skin looks healthier for it.

Doesn't make a fucking difference.
Cartridge is harder to cut yourself with, but you have to do at least twice as many passes to get as close of a shave as a "safety" razor, which already covers me in cuts after only 1 pass. And by the time you've done 3 passes with a cartridge, you end up with cuts anyway.
So in either case, I'm either covered in cuts, or I have a shitty, stubbly shave. Doesn't fucking matter.

Good post. I shave with a cartridge razor (gillette skinguard) but you're right about safety razors being better for your skin. Going ATG with a safety razor is really hard for me for some reason. Some areas on my chin and neck are real stubborn and need 50 passes in all different directions just to make them smooth. But so far the skinguard is the best all round razor I've ever owned. Also it looks /fa/ as hell

Don't you find shaving tedious and self destructive?
It might be fun but it's so slow if you want to do it carefully. Also shaved cheeks are ugly thus self destructive.

If I have ultimately short but prickly facial hair, are safety razors worth it? I hate the Reddit meme surrounding them, the โ€œmuh brush and creamโ€ and all of that nonsense
I prefer to use just a low irritation shaving cream and get it done at the end of a shower (I like a smooth face so I typically shave once every two days), but Iโ€™m terrified that safety razors will just cut my face up

If you shave vertically (like with regular razors) and not horizontally (slicing your face like you would with a knife), then you won't cut yourself. Of course there's a chance to nick yourself, just like with regulars, and ironically, with safeties it's a bit easier to get cut. But nothing crazy.

If you're a daily shaver, you'll save money. I bought a Gillette safety for 18$ but I don't use it that often because I kinda like my stubble.

So, I'd recommend it. I also hate the reddit hype. Everyone's taking about their daily brushes or soaps and they have dozens of them. They probably spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for all that equipment.

I just do it for the money.
Cartridge handle = 12$
Safety = 18$

Cartridge blade = 2.20$
Double edge = 0.25$

Even if you end up spending the same for the de blades because of switching too often, you'll still win because you'll always change to a new sharp blade.

I use Feather double edge blades. I find the blades a bit inconsistent, some of them are perfect but others completely slice up my face. My technique is 100% solid.

Is there anything better than Feather? Merkur went to shit. Thinking of trying cartridges, what are the very best?
