What are the best wool blankets? I have a Pendleton blanket for my bed, and 2 80% recycled wool blankets from Amazon, but they are scratchy. I am currently looking at an Ektos blanket. They are 100% wool for a good price, but idk what the catch is. Share your /fa/ blankets/bedspreads

Softest imo is alpaca wool, but the alpaca blanket I have sheds A LOT. Lamb's wool is fine and soft enough for me. MacAusland's lamb's wool blankets are super nice but very retro styled.

All wool blankets are scratchy for a while. Just get merino or alpaca if you donโ€™t like it.

i like my pendleton one, only their national park ones are good and i guess i just like how wool feels i dont find it scratchy
alpaca is good but like the other anon says it will shed a lot, i think they're soft enough to be worth it, i use my alpaca one a lot and my wool one for sleeping

To clarify - my Pendleton is not scratchy. It is perfectly soft and cozy. It's the 80% recycled wool blankets that are scratchy. Recycled wool is not nearly as soft as virgin wool.

Why do you say only their national park blankets are good? All their wool blankets say >80% virgin wool.

Lucked out and got this from my Grandma. 100% Dutch virgin wool. Probably over 50 years old.

I hung it up in my bathroom and beat the hell out of it and brushed it, but I may still dry-clean it. But it is so fucking thick and warm. So stoked on it.

Ah I see. Tbh I didn't know their national park blankets were different and oure wool. Had I known I would have gotten one - but at least the other 20% is cotton and not synthetic. And my Pendleton will never leave my house, so it won't get wet.
