I wore a shirt yesterday that was clearly designed for tucking so I tucked it and it looked like shit. It's based on the shirt and how it looks but I rarely do it unless I have to for formal events.

You're stupid
Shirts are designed to be tucked in. Infact it's a misnomer to even say "tucking in", since it is the default.
To do otherwise is retarded.
Do you wear your socks ontop of your shoes? Your underwear ontop of your trousers?
The trousers go over the shirt, that's how they're designed, that's how it's always been, for all of history.
Morons today don't know how to dress themselves

Generally no, unless I'm wearing a suit or doing some gardening work in the dirt.
I have rather long legs, so any mid/high rise pants that would support tucking end up looking a bit disproportional.

i almost always tuck. shirts, tee shirts, everything. the only time i don't is for summer outfits.
it blows my mind how manchild my fellow millenials are about tucking their shirts. i think its downstream from the low rise pants trend, obesity, and the eternal millenial desire to never be taken seriously.
the zoomer cropped shirt thing is probably the best compromise. if you're not going to tuck your shirt at least have it look good.
i'm a backpacker and i even see people wearing untucked shirts way out in the wilderness (first time?)

>>18479664
jacket fixes that. back when guys were wearing higher rise pants with tucked shirts all the time, it was also a social norm that men wore jackets any time they were outdoors unless they were actively doing physical labor. walking around in just a shirt was seen as sort of vulgar or weird.

telling you man thicker all cotton no stretch pants in a fabric weave that has a stiffer drape will go a long way. you can wear pretty thick of materials in the summer if you go wide, the fabrics breathability starts to matter less.

I tuck, but then flair it out a bit because that's how every kid did it in high school where we had a dress code of slacks, dress shoes, belt or suspenders, and a collared button up shirt. Everyone I knew, except the nerdy kids did it. I think thought it looked bad as a kid, but it's just ingrained in me at this point.

Is flaired cool or cringe for an adult?

No because American culture has become much too relaxed to allow for such a look. Walking around with your shirt tucked in is a quick way to look like a major homosexual if you arenโ€™t already.

If you have a bankroll, you can certainly wear what you want and it will work. But if you are a member of the working class I would refrain from it.

Except, most modern shirts and pants are designed for not tucking. Shirts are too short and slim, and pants are too low rise. So any time you tuck your shirt it will never stay in for long. The moment you sit down or raise your arms, it will get pulled out.

Tucking is generally best but it also depends on the rise of the bottoms being worn as well as the overall proportions. Skinny jeans and low rise looks off when you tuck a shirt in. By contrast, mid to high rise with straight cut jeans/pants looks better.
