>>18479650whoa when the FUCK did Parkhurst become $428?
wtf? they were sub 300 when I first discovered the brand. my biggest regret in boots is not getting the spruce kudu Allen when they still offered it

desu over covid i saw some groceries double and they just never went back down
>>18479891How are they, comfy right out of the box?
>>18479915I've had these for about 3 weeks now. They were comfy on the sole right out of the box but the sides were a bit tight and needed to be broken in. Now that everything has loosened up, they are quite comfortable. My feet did not feel tired after this 5 mile hike through mountainous terrain uphill, muddy downward slopes, and twisting pathways overgrown with tree roots. But boy did my calves and thighs feel sore
I saw this pair of pure black Beckman 9060. Is there an alt version or did the owner just redye the whole boot black?
>>18479991No idea but it looks ugly as fuck, reminds me of standard issue jungle boots made by the lowest bidding defense contractor.

Did the Beckman's explode in popularity recently? Only after I bought them it seems like they get brought up all the time in every boot thread.
I like their look and build, but hate the way the speed hooks prematurely wear out the tongue.
I want boots that look like this any recommendations? Shiny, black, low
profile. I can't tell are they dress boots or combat boots?
>>18480226Those look like Iron Rangers. Any boot with half decent leather can be polished to a mirror shine with enough wax and conditioner.

Should I hide my shoelaces or just them hang free?
I feel like letting them be free looks ugly but I have never noticed anyone else hide their shoelaces other than military personelle where I learned of it in the first place.

>>18480531The problem is just that the tongue is narrow as fuck. It should be at least and inch or so wider

left to right:
Trench Boot ($390), Field Boot ($518), Storm Boot ($453), Beckman 9060 ($473)

no more than 400 bucks
>>18482067How good do they have to be?
You can just get Clarks and be fine. They're cheap enough you don't feel like you need to baby them and you'll get several years out of them before you even think of replacing them
>>18481788that doesn't mean much given there's like 20-30 /fa/gs in total
>>18482390Several years of uncomfortable trash. It's retarded to be a penny pincher when it comes to footwear.
>>18480705I'm not sure if it applies but I like my jim green vellies. If you're fine with potato last and hard rubber sole I've thrashed mine and they've held up great. At $100 they're basically disposable, but I did add some superfeet blue insoles because they have basically no arch support. Love how roomy the toes are for walking, but I do have hobbit feet high arches and a wide forefoot.
>>18482390Clarks look fine but I'm not a fan of the loose sloppy heel and tight toe box. No steel shank kinda makes them suck for just walking too.
>>18482553Astorflex is kino
>>18482553well the original desert boots were shankless too
Want a pair of roughout boots but dont want to wait half a year for them.

Help me out, C&J conistons or islays? Most likely in dark brown grained leather. Looking for some pros/cons.
I rarely use suits, but often chinos, sometimes jeans. Coniston seem more versatile while the islays look sick, yet might be too over the top. Scandi climate. Money isn't a issue.
>>18484123Islay simply because its on a much more comfortable last.
What kind of socks do you typically wear with boots? Do they effect the wear on the shoes and can the shoe effect their wear over time?
>>18484150darn tough, they don't really affect the wear on the shoes, although something that is more moisture-wicking is probably better? High quality socks will not easily wear out, i wore 2 pairs of darn toughs during my time at the military for 8 months without issues.

>>18479647 (OP)I don't know what you faggots do for boots, but I wear Georgia boot logger hightops with the low heel and steel toe. They last about a year doing manual labor. They stay waterproof for about 6 months before they start bleeding in at the tong. Normally I grease them when I first get them and then just let them ride till they crack behind the toe or split at the seam to the sole. I've had the laces last the entire life of the boot or I've had to replace them once in the life of the boot. They're pretty decent for the price. Which is all to say I know my size and dont want to fuck around with unknown lasts.
Plus at ~1400+ I'd rather just go full custom from Role Club or Unsung. Yes it'll be more expensive than Clinch or Lofgren, but at that point youre spending fuck you money on boots and may as well max out.

>>18488613So if I use trees I can wear them every day? I dont really have another pair of shoes to alternate
>>18488799you should alternate
>>18488803So its not possible to wear boots every day?
>>18488213Iโm looking for specifically these black service boots you knuckle dragger
>>18488213>Grant Stone has the Field BootLooks nothing like those btw
>>18488750But dont you want the toebox to collapse? Or is the point of the flat box just to avoid the clown toe?
Some anon a few threads back asked me to show my rough-out waxing effort so I took some progress pics
>>18488950The shoe is a custom shoellie from Jim green in rough out black
The wax used was Jim greens own leather balm
>>18488951I used a heat gun on low setting to heat up the area to be waxed, and I also gave the wax itself a blast of the heat to make it soft just before applying with an applicator brush from skolyx that I have.
>>18488956whole process took less than an hour, and the result is comparable to a pair of service boots in Charles F Sted waxy black that I have so I think it went well.
>>18488960how many coatings did you do?
>>18488961this is after just one coat. I left them to dry and the initial sticky surface feel faded completely.
Not sure if they need another coat. I've read that people tend to apply too much product when doing this, so I'll wait and see.
>>18488964i noticed when i did one coat areas that flexed would lose some of the water resistance
>>18489007What heel and sole is that? Never seen white ones on Viberg
>>18489035started as leather and then topied by a cobbler
>>18488956Laced up and ready to go
>>18489268looks good
I wonder how it's gonna hold up over time
>>18488950>>18488951It's so interesting how matted roughout looks like canvas. I noticed that on the heel counter of my boots as well.
>>18488813They aren't true moccasins, and yeah they are kind of just their own thing, but visually they are similar.
>>18489605are the wacutas true moccasins?
>>18489784Carlos Santos' chelseas have made a very good first impression. I'll have more to say about them after I wear them for a while
>>18489784>that massive gapanon...
>>18489794Though gaps are hot
>>18489797looks like a 3/4 of an inch to an inch
>>18479647 (OP)Anyone got any /fa/ boot sock recommendations? Thicker merino wool (wearable year round preferably). When I try to search for this I only get these ugly tactical/hiking socks but nothing that actually goes with a dressier boot, and all /fa/ socks are very thin (obviously for dress shoes)
>>18489784Pretty funny how everyone's wearing faded baggy trousers now.
>>18489784>>18489793nice
>>18489918may be expensive but very high quality and dressy
https://meschaussettesrouges.com/en
>>18489918CHUP has some wool offerings but they're not as good as darn tough
>>18490116skip the very actually
I don't own any from them (yet) just heard hugo talking about them but I mostly trust him
>>18490118>45 dollars for one pair of socks
>>18490170well hey darn toughs are cheaper but they're "ugly tactical/hiking" so there you are
>>18490116Those are just dress socks. Im aware dress socks exist im looking for a thicker boot sock that looks better than ugly hiking socks from Darn Tough
Does anyone here have strong opinions about shoe trees?
>>18488956really wish I could get some shoellies but they sell out so fast in the EU
Best boots for modern life
>>18490254I only use them for my plain toe boots like engineers
>tfw got my parkhursts but cba to take pictures
>>18479647 (OP)What are my options for chunkier black boots. Think visvim style type stuff. But more affordable and easier to obtain in Australia?
>>18490480>australia R.M. Williams or Blundies
>>18489918Falke
They have some 70% hiking merino wool socks
>>18490254Get wooden shoe trees. You don't need to get expensive or lasted shoe trees.
>>18490523>>18490284I watched a video about how some cheap shoetrees can stretch out and ruin the leather. how do u know if one is good or if it will ruin the shoe
>>18490526get one from the bootmaker they should have ones that fit the lasts, saphir makes shoetrees now too
just buy quality like you do with your boots
>>18490528>>18490526>shoe trees are necessary>dont worry they are only like $15>oh you didnt want to ruin your shoes? Yea you need $80 redwing shoetrees actuallyLol
>>18490534>>shoe trees are necessaryyes
>>dont worry they are only like $15not me, I didn't say and wouldn't say that
quality costs money, big surprise
>>18490526Don't get them too big.
>>18490534Probably don't need last specific trees for work boots. More important on fancier dressy footwear.
>>18484997i hike long distances, darn tough and smartwool has been the best investment in my life. i will never buy cheap cotton/polyester ever again. everything will be wool from now on
>>18490368I'm getting those Ranger Rugged, can't hold myself.
First time posting in /btg/, donโt plan on being a regular just passing through because I saw Redwing mentioned and was curious.
Been wearing Redwingโs amber Iron Rangerโs for about a year and a half, recently picked up a black pair to better match some outfits.
What are your guys opinions on Redwing in general and the Iron Rangers specifically? From skimming the thread it seemed mostly positive about the brand (not 100%) but couldnโt decide about IRโs.
>>18490606They're fine, it's just a very, very casual boot.
>>18490606probably one of the best and widely available first boot. many ITT probably have a pair or owned a pair at some point
>>18490609>>18490613Cool, works for my needs and level of interest, casual. Thanks
>>18490606Peopleโs main problem with RedWing is the aggressive toebox that starts to look like a clown shoe once the leather around it softens. Thats why the japanese flatbox Beckman is popular with enthusiasts, but its hard to find unless youre willing to pay a premium to ship from Japan.
>>18490588The Kmart socks have wool though, see
>>18485020 >>18490726The new Beckman's have a very narrow last, literally nothing clown-like. The collapsed flatbox is just a dog whistle for RW autists.
>>18490254EXTREMELY over hyped and overstated, but still good to have if you've got them
>>18490526then don't buy the wrong size shoe tree
then don't tard strength ram them in
>>18490526If they have a heel and fit properly they will be fine.
you have 6 hours to tell me what to wear with
>>18491574hep
>>18490726Iron Rangers: :/
Iron Rangers (Japanese): :D
>>18491598whats the occasion
>>18491598Listen to
>>18491629 unless you want to look like a flamer. And get a nice trucker/chore jacket.
Did I waste my money? I wanted more casual shoes that are comfortable for walking around. Finsbury, 250 bucks.
>>18491649>oak street is just expensive thursdays lol
Are there any good Chinese boot brands? I don't mean like GS and such, but brands that you can only find on aliexpress and taobao.
>>18490872What kind of a fag wears boots with zippers?
>>18491868the kind that buys thursdays in the first place
>>18491662that sole is ugly as fucking fuck
get it re-soled
>>18491923A good quality resole would cost like half the price of the shoe, if not more. Better off returning it and paying 100 yuros more for something that doesn't look like those dress sneaker abominations.
