Anyone here wear apple watch? How do you like it?

I find an analog watch in digital format a very compelling proposition. I never liked normal digital watches.

A bit concerned about battery issues though

Yeah I have one as a sort of "fitness lite" watch. I strongly dislike it as a watch but as a general fitness tracker it's ok (no frame of reference so I can't compare to other shit).

The time display assumes you're not interested in actually looking at it, so even if you set it to rape my battery mode it fades the seconds display after an infuriatingly short time and you basically are not allowed to use it to track time to a sub-minute level of precision.

So if I'm like cooking or something, and I have a time sensitive task like blanching some greens, I'll switch to a normal watch.

Also I hate the reminder of being on a digital leash, yeah I know my phone is a leash too but this is that much more invasive.

Also the VO2max heuristic is completely fucked up, it puts me at dangerously low fitness despite doing 8-10 hours of cardio every week and walking everywhere and having the resting heart rate of an athlete. The issue is that it can only estimate VO2max accurately if you regularly walk in shorts and a t-shirt on a perfectly flat infinite plain with no obstructions for 30+ minutes every day, if you ever stop for an intersection or if you have elevation changes or if you carry a lot of groceries or you take the stairs it gets confused.

As a fashion accessory it serves the following purpose: if I'm entering a socially ambiguous situation where I don't want to signal social status/income/whatever, the apple watch is perfect because literally everyone wears them from broke people on welfare to billionaires. Any other watch sends a socioeconomic message to one degree or another, an apple watch is like a null value.

Ma'am that's a digital watch. You have a spyware device that sells your vo2, heart rate, steps, and location information to data brokers.

My ideal watch would be a square g shock (atomic time, solar, no tracking) but analog display

This is the only thing I like about iwatch: analog display

Lots of analog face watches exist with solar and radio time. Just look at eco drives, they make plenty.

I got gifted a Galaxy Watch and now wear it for working out and often throughout the work week because I don't like the attention some watches attract.
I've added a NATO strap and got a Rolex watch face for it. Personally I don't like it: battery lasts for 2 days tops and it keeps giving me notifications like "time to get up" "you're doing great" etc.

I have a 2 and I quit wearing it. I used to wear it just to see how many miles I walked at work daily. I would do 8-14 miles a day and I liked having my milage for the year and to track my shoe wear. But I just quit because the charging is too annoying and it's an ugly as fuck 44mm.

Lmao yeah pic related on those monstrosities. I don't even have small wrists. 44mm is my max size though with 42 being perfect and 38mm being too small. The watch itself is just ugly.

My brother in christ, it's a quartz watch. Digital watches are still using oscillating quartz. Computers still use an RTC with oscillating quartz.

There's a whole marketplace with them and I'm sure also a way to install them for free. I wouldn't worry about your selection of watch faces
I can even change the colour on mine

>My brother in christ

Truly amazing if not sarcastic. I really wish for it all to be true. Currently my only indication / sign is that I struggle with insane sleep paralysis and nightmare and the only thing that makes it go away is prayer. So I am hoping this means it is all real. The world is truly fucked so we need the messiah now more than ever. They want to exterminate us with artificial intelligence.

So anyway, which watch do you recommend?

Lol I fall asleep to horror stories all night everynight. If you like the apple watch use it. I just don't like them. I find them even uglier than the round samsung watches. If you want a casual square watch that looks nice you could TRY to get one of these but they're limited run each season and also nh35s.

Apple has a 14-day no-questions-asked return policy
I wear a normal one because the Ultra is too big and heavy to sleep in comfortably
Try them both on at the store
A week and a half will tell you what you need to know about charging it
If you get a normal one that isnโ€™t an SE youโ€™ll need to charge it like once a day for maybe half an hour
