It wasn't the "influencer" culture and mindless trends hopping culture driven by algorithms that it is today. In the 2000's you used MySpace and Facebook mostly to talk to your friends, make friends with strangers, and maybe post a couple of grainy pictures taken with your 2-5MP non-smartphone camera (or a point and shoot digital camera) every now and then and upload it through your PC, because there were no smartphones and 24x7 high speed internet in everyone's pockets.
Social media back then was more like an upgraded version of MSN Messenger that you accessed through your PC or laptop occasionally, not for hours everyday doom scrolling through your TikTok, Instagram or YouTube Shorts feed like a junkie.
