>>18484685it's not that great. generally the cooler / more fun / more chill / better co-workers the job has the worse it'll pay and they'll be no commission. think working in a cool obscure streetwear store that sells undercover and margiela. on the other hand if you want to make bank you need a commission job which means it's going to be boring / not fun / not chill / with demonic co-workers. think the bottega venetta purse counter inside a department store.
so it can be fun but you're gonna be broke or you can make money but it's going to suck ass. i've done both and everything in-between.
>>18484688>Any cool stories?yeah, so many that it's impossible for one to immediately come to mind. i did 10 years of luxury retail before transitioning out. you gotta be more specific.
>What are the craziest items you sold?it's fur coats and nothing else comes close. ready to wear is kind of a joke to me now. a $15,000 leather jacket from the row is like something you would throw in for free if someone was an excellent customer in the fur business.
>Who were your weirdest customers?no one is that weird. everyone is just looking for a way to distract themselves from their problems. people can be awkward or high maintenance or even somewhat abrasive but no one is really that weird or strange.
you gotta remember when you go into a luxury store there are all these things we do to make you feel awkward and like you need to be on your best behaviour. i guarantee someone who works at walmart would have way more weird customer stories than i would. that's a retail environment where people feel completely free to walk in and be weird as fuck and not follow any basic societal rules.
