Is this a good beginner watch, assuming you want something that looks and feels premium? My budget is around 2k.

I'd rather get one of the Seiko Proxpex for this style at this price.

Maybe the 62mas. They get respect from all watch collectors.

No. If you want a good mechanical watch in that price range with a bit of decoration, buy Nomos. You can expect to pay $10k for a half decent mechanical watch and $20k for a good one.

Used you can get some iconic watches for around that budget
>Cartier Tank
>IWC pilot series
>Omega Aqua Terra and less desirable Speedmasters
>Tudor Black Bay
>TAG Monaco
>Breitling Navitimer
Don't drop that money on a no-name shitter with zero resale value, because you WILL want to resell it in 2-3 years.

Would you rather have that watch or would you rather have some guy paying you 10-20 dollars a month for the rest of your life to not buy that watch? Cuz if you put that money into dividend stocks instead of buying a watch that’s what would happen

Basically every dude had a swiss made pocket watch back in the day. It was just a thing normal dudes bought sort of like phones are today. Paying thousands of dollars for jewelry is an absolute scam. The industry literally intentionally raised prices and created an artificial luxury/novelty marketing campaign to survive being btfo by quartz watches.

It's stupid. If you wouldn't drop $2k on a gold bracelet because you think that's gay there's NO fucking reason to buy some stainless steel shitter for $2k when in effect they're costume jewelry that women don't even care about btw.

None of these watches are 2k second hand. Get a nice omega from the 1960 era, put it on a good strap and do something else with the remaining 1000 usd.

you can say that about everything

Why do people buy nice clothes if a $5 tshirt does the same thing?

Why do people buy nice cars if they can drive exactly the same with cheap cars?

>every dude had a swiss made pocket watch back in the day
They also used to spend one month salary on a coat.
Read Nikolai Gogol's the Overcoat.

That's literally not true. Up to a certain point, there is an objective tangible improvement in both clothes and cars. How they feel, how long they last, how reliable and comfortable they are, etc. It's worth paying more for those things. Also clothes and cars are much more than a fashion accessory so comparing a watch to them is kinda pointless.

It's true for watches as well.
Around 1k to 2K is a sweet spot where there's an actual différence compared to $500 watches.
Over 4K the difference is mostly branding for most watches (unless it's gold, diamonds, a tourbillon...).

Fuck you and fuck your shit take.
Everything you said can be applied to any non-essential consumer product.
You don't want to by a 2K watch, good for you. You want to get $10 a month of ROI instead like this fag >>18485926 , fine.
BUT spare us your shitty generalization and dollar store philosophy. Not everything is about saving money for the sake of saving money. Money isn't everybody's god. It's usually the god of broke people.

>The industry literally intentionally raised prices and created an artificial luxury/novelty marketing campaign to survive being btfo by quartz watches.
Or maybe because the market for automatic watches shrinked, they had to raise the price to stay in profit, while also keeping the jobs in Europe (unlike pretty much any other industry in this period).
Then it became a circle, raising the price making the market even smaller, a smaller market forcing to raise the price (because of economy of scales, a watch-making machine having to make money on a fewer number of watches produced) and so on.
Because of all this, it was all logical that the watch market became a luxury market, as watch brands also have strong identities, culture and traditions.
tdlr; it was not not just "huuurr dhuuuur!! they raised the price out of nothing! #absolutescam!!!"

The only brands not made by bug men or niggers are German or Russian. Buy a Vostok or a Sinn.
